2024 Election

Lindsey Graham, Who is TOTALLY Strapped for Cash, Just Received Horrible News About His Reelection Hopes

At the beginning of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, Sen. Lindsey Graham was one of his harshest critics, even demanding at one point that Republicans should “tell Trump to go to hell.”

Then somewhere along the way, a switch flipped.

Graham (R-S.C.) tossed out all of his respectability so he could politically pander to Trump’s every whim. He was then rewarded with subpoenas and widespread scorn, Queerty notes.

So on Tuesday, Graham popped up on Fox News to defend his election interference in Georgia during the 2020 presidential election and beg for money. Because of course. Begging is one of the things Graham does best.

“I did my job, and if I have to do it over again, I will. For the last year, I’ve been inundated with this,” he told Sean Hannity.

“I’ve spent almost $1.5 million from my campaign funds to deal with this, whether I’m getting myself reelected or helping other Republicans,” Graham said, in full whine mode. “Donald Trump has spent $40 million in three different jurisdictions. And if you want to help me pay my bill, LindseyGraham.com.”

I’m sure Trump’s fellow co-defendants Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis, who are both reportedly broke and begging Trump (unsuccessfully thus far) for money would love that $1.5 million.

But Graham conducts quite the whine-fest, even claiming in the Hannity interview that he didn’t do anything wrong in Georgia. No, he was purportedly doing what he was supposed to do before certifying the election results.

“I had to vote, as a United States senator, whether to certify the election,” Graham told Hannity. “So what did I do? I called people all over the country, including the secretary of state of Georgia. I called him from my Senate office with my staff on the phone to ask questions about mail-in voting.”

But Republican Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s Secretary of State, remembers Graham’s conduct differently, noting that the senator asked him about throwing out legal votes.

The dumb thing here is that Graham should be grateful. The special grand jury recommended charges be filed against Graham, but Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis decided not to indict him after indicting 18 of Trump’s co-defendants in total.

Especially when you consider the fact that Graham was forced by the Supreme Court to cooperate in the inquiry.

Being the ever-faithful lap-dog, the South Carolina senator covered for the disgraced former president.

And of course, we can’t forget his embarrassing meltdown from earlier this summer during an appearance on Fox News. Where he even told people he loves it when Trump “beats him like a drum.”

It was a characteristically embarrassing summer for Graham, who melted down in a memorable Fox News spot and told everybody he loves it when Trump “beats him like a drum.”

Graham’s devotion to Trump is pathetic but here’s something even more pathetic: That devotion is not reciprocated. Earlier in the summer, the MAGA-infused audience booed him straight off the stage at a Trump rally in his home state.

Truly, that is pathetic, indeed. Plus, Graham may be facing a primary challenger: Hardcore right-wing Rep. Ralph Nordham, a ranking member of the Freedom Caucus. On Wednesday he said he’s considering running against Graham, who has served four terms in the Senate.

While Graham’s main occupation seems to be grifting, this is definitely not good. Wikipedia reports the “Freedom Caucus is generally considered to be the most conservative and farthest-right bloc within the House Republican Conference.” So no. This is definitely not good.

Graham has ruffled conservative feathers by voting for a government funding bill and also voting to support Ukraine’s battle against Russia’s invasion.

So folks, remember that Lindsey Graham has more grifting to do if he’s to win the primary in 2026.

He needs your money and he needs it always! After all, he’s got to do more pandering for his savior, Donald Trump.

C’mon everybody. Pony up!

Lots of folks had thoughts:

Just for fun, I’ve included this clip of Graham being booed for six solid minutes in his very own state. Because I think it serves as a balm for frayed nerves after so many years of Trump AND Graham.
