Trump Advisers Freaking Out After Trump Loses His Top and Most Competent ‘Billion Dollar’ Lawyer

“Billion Dollar Lawyer” Drew Findling is the latest attorney to depart from former President Donald Trump’s legal team, RollingStone reported Friday.

The publication notes that Findling’s departure is being met with “dismay,” and now folks in Trumpland are confused about whether the legal team is in disarray again, RawStory reports.

“Several high-ranking members of Team Trump [asked] one another why the ex-president would ditch someone who was internally viewed as perhaps Trump’s single most competent attorney,” per RollingStone. “Findling was in the middle of leading the legal defense against the one prosecution that is likely the most perilous for Trump — and the lawyer was replaced just as the former president was about to have his historic mug shot taken in Georgia.”

Sounds about right, dunnit? Fire the best lawyer that has ever been on your team right before you get your behind handed to you by the Georgia Attorney General.

And if this sounds familiar that’s because it is. Three sources with information about Findling’s departure told Rolling Stone that this involved the “same kind of power struggles that have long plagued Trump’s legal teams, even (or, especially) during times when Trump is trying his hardest to stay out of prison.”

In the past, many lawyers left because they fought inside battles with Trump’s longtime adviser Boris Epshteyn. He’s served as a strategist and even, on occasion, an “in-house counsel.” But he’s the biggest reason why several lawyers have left or been sidelined.

At one point Trump’s legal team felt quite bitter toward  Epshteyn and mistrusted him. The Guardian reported that the relationship soured so much that some lawyers agreed to a pact that stated if one attorney was fired, the rest would quit to show solidarity.

Politico reported in 2022 that Epshteyn irked Florida attorney Chris Kise by pushing for a more aggressive attack on federal prosecutors as the Mar-a-Lago documents case loomed. Sources connected to Trump’s legal team told Politico that the ex-president was being poorly served by Epshteyn’s feisty approach.

Tim Parlatore, another member of Trump’s legal team resigned this spring and also cited Epshteyn. Parlatore claimed Epshteyn made his life considerably more difficult in trying to do his job. That was especially true when it came to searching other Trump locations for the documents. Epshteyn made it clear that he didn’t want Parlatore to search Trump’s Bedminster golf club in New Jersey. Parlatore told CNN he never did know why Epshteyn didn’t allow him to search the property.

But when it comes to weirdly complicated legal moves perhaps Michael Cohen, Trump’s former attorney put it best in an interview with MSNBC’s Katie Phang in July.

“So, good luck because Boris is a moron,” he said.

And one source is now saying that the latest fights with Trump happened because “Boris did not control him.”

One of the duties Findling was charged with was to prevent Fulton County prosecutors from pursuing a sprawling racketeering indictment with the help of Trump’s numerous allies, the report explained. That definitely didn’t happen.

And Findling also got into it with Epshteyn, apparently.

“It was pretty well known,” one source told Rolling Stone. Findling was ousted in August and once again Trump’s legal eagles are looking for another Atlanta lawyer.

I’m sure that before his trial begins even more attorneys will pass through that seemingly neverending revolving door. Each of his lawyers should keep their resumes spiffed up.

Just saying.

I’ve included a clip of ex-Trump attorney Tim Parlatore telling CNN’s Paula Reid why he left Team Trump.
