Trump and His Melania-Lookalike Lawyer Get Humiliated by Angry Judge on Hillary Clinton Lawsuit

I just love it when things like this happen to Donald Trump and his attorney, Alina Habba.

One iron-spined judge in Florida handed down a fiery rebuke of Trump and Habba on Friday, accusing Trump of attempting to use the courts to “seek revenge on political adversaries.”

U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks, who was appointed by former President Bill Clinton, ordered Trump and Habba in January to pony up almost $1 million in damages to defendants for a lawsuit that he described as “frivolous,” according to Newsweek. Trump had ridiculously tried to sue his 2016 Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton, some of her advisers, and top FBI officials for $70 million in damages in March of 2022. His contention was that they had somehow conspired against him with allegations that he was compromised by Russia.

Habba was, however, undeterred by the significant financial sanctions, and she refiled the lawsuit in August after a report from the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) special counsel John Durham was released in May. Durham was appointed by Trump’s former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr to investigate the probe into Trump’s connections to Russia. This didn’t come to much. The special counsel dug up improper actions by some FBI officials, but that’s about it. Durham wasn’t able to secure significant convictions as Trump and allies had hoped.

But on Friday, Middlebrooks wasn’t having any of this nonsense. In his decision, the good judge reiterated that he still found the entire legal endeavor to be frivolous. Durham’s report, Middlebrooks wrote, didn’t provide any additional support for Trump’s claims in the lawsuit. And it’s really worth reading the decision, it’s unbelievable and so deserved.

“Even if the Durham Report uncovered the sort of vast conspiracy alleged by Plaintiff (it plainly did not), it would not change the many legal conclusions I made in the Order dismissing Plaintiff’s lawsuit. And whatever the Durham Report can be said to have uncovered, for purposes of this case, it does not change findings that Movants acted in bad faith in bringing this lawsuit and that this case exemplifies Mr. Trump’s history of abusing the judicial process,” the judge wrote. “Therefore, for the reasons set forth below, Plaintiff and his lawyers’ Motion for Indicative Ruling Based Upon New Evidence is denied.”

That’s a lot of words that, in essence, tell Trump & co. to f*ck off.

And Middlebrook didn’t stop there. In his 17-page decision, he excoriated Trump and Habba for refiling the case.

“I struggle to even imagine anything that the Durham Report could say to warrant a change in any of those conclusions—the sum of which foreclosed Plaintiff’s claims and led to sanctions,” Middlebrooks added.

In his conclusion, Middlebrooks called Trump “a prolific and sophisticated litigant who is repeatedly using the courts to seek revenge on political adversaries.” He noted that the “case is straight out of that playbook.”

Middlebrooks was equally fiery in January when he wrote that the “case should never have been brought. Its inadequacy as a legal claim was evident from the start. No reasonable lawyer would have filed it.” He went on to characterize the lawsuit as “a quintessential shotgun pleading” that only served “a political purpose.”

Furthermore, he wrote that Trump is “the mastermind of strategic abuse of the judicial process,” and sanctioned Trump and Habba to the tune of $937,989.39. Both later appealed the judge’s sanctions.

“The Florida federal lawsuit filed on behalf of President Trump was factually correct and legally sound,” said Jesse Binnall in February. Binnall was a lawyer for Trump and Habba, acting on behalf of their appeal, CNBC reported.

“We look forward to making our case to the Eleventh Circuit as each and every one of the decisions by the district court should be decisively reversed,” Binnall said.

Trump has arduously denied allegations that he was colluding with Russia in 2016. Democratic lawmakers conducted lengthy probes and an investigation by then-special counsel Robert Mueller failed to conclude that Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign was colluding with Moscow.

Trump continues to play the victim here and still claims the Russia probe was a “hoax” and a “witch hunt.”

Well, what would you expect from someone who’s been indicted four times while he and his allies continue to maintain that all charges and investigations are “politically motivated.”

I love that Middlebrooks isn’t cutting Trump and Habba any slack. They don’t deserve it. Trump has pulled the victim card out too many times and rational people are tired of it.
