I don’t know much about Caitlyn Jenner, but it seems she has a few weird notions, having described Donald Trump as an “elite athlete” and believing that transgender women should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports. Which is incidentally, both sad and wrong.

The fact that she thinks Trump is an “elite athlete” should be an immediate clue that something’s “off” with her.

On Truth Social in September, Trump boasted that he won the “Senior Club Championship,” which is aimed at competitors at least 50 years old or older, at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. In the past, Trump has made frequent boasts about his success as a golfer, and just as his boasts in the past have generated pushback and skepticism online, there was, of course, more of the same this time around, Newsweek reports.

This time around Trump responded by posting on Truth Social:

“I am pleased to report, for those that care, that I just won the Senior Club Championship (must be over 50 years old!) at Bedminster (Trump National Golf Club), shooting a round of 67.”

“Now, some people will think that sounds low, but there is no hanky/lanky. Many people watch, plus I am surrounded by Secret Service Agents. Not much you can do even if you wanted to, and I don’t. For some reason, I am just a good golfer/athlete—I have won many Club Championships, and it is always a great honor!”

Then he posted again, obviously attempting to deflect any likely skepticism of his accomplishment by sharing the phone number of Mickey Gallagher, the “head of professional golf” at the Bedminster club. I’m sure Gallagher loved that. Newsweek attempted to call but wasn’t able to reach anyone using this phone number prior to publication.

Jenner, a fanatical Trump supporter who is backing him in his 2024 presidential election bid, waxed ecstatic over Trump’s golf abilities when she praised his performance at a rally this week in Iowa.

Jenner, who formerly appeared in Keeping Up with the Kardashians and won gold as a decathlete champion at the 1976 Olympics, decades before coming out as transgender in 2015, hopped on X to share a screenshot from Truth Social and sing the ex-president’s praises.

In the post, which was shared by Trump (natch), Jenner heaps on the praise:

“TRUMP GOES FOR GOLD!!!! Maybe even platinum?! Wouldn’t expect anything less from the greatest POTUS in history @realdonaldtrump.”

Jenner, who has vocally opposed transgender women competing in women’s sports wrote: “From one elite athlete to another (67 Club Champion) OUR FUTURE POTUS. Iowa—my alma mater state—is MAGA Country!”

As you might expect, some folks supported the post, while others, well…not so much.

Jenner may be an enthusiastic Trump supporter now and also supported him during his 2016 campaign, but he did fall out of favor and she lashed out at him in an op-ed published by The Washington Post in 2018.

“The reality is that the trans community is being relentlessly attacked by this president,” she wrote at the time. “The leader of our nation has shown no regard for an already marginalized and struggling community. He has ignored our humanity. He has insulted our dignity.”

“He has made trans people into political pawns as he whips up animus against us in an attempt to energize the most right-wing segment of his party, claiming his anti-transgender policies are meant to ‘protect the country.’ This is politics at its worst. It is unacceptable, it is upsetting, and it has deeply, personally hurt me.”

Jenner also said her efforts to work with the then-president and his administration were a mistake and she laid into Trump for his attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, including his ban on trans soldiers and his reversal of former President Barack Obama’s protections for trans schoolchildren.

“It’s clear these policies have come directly from Trump, and they have been sanctioned, passively or actively, by the Republicans whose continued support he governs. My hope in him—in them—was misplaced, and I cannot support anyone who is working against our community,” Jenner wrote. “I do not support Trump. I must learn from my mistakes and move forward.”

Too bad she’s now moving backward. She now says she’s openly supporting Trump’s 2024 presidential run.

Jenner underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2017. Last year she asserted she and her staff were flooded with death threats and hate mail from the “so-called inclusive ‘inclusive LGBT community” in reacting to her views.

Well, she did, after all, stab her own community in the back by supporting Trump again, so it’s no wonder people are mad, and while death threats are not cool, she deserves the criticism.

She’s supporting a man who’s expressed fascist views, so let’s hope the criticism continues. She deserves no less.
