Lara Trump Flips Out Because No Radio Stations Will Play Her Dumb Country Rip-Off Tom Petty Song

Lara Trump is kvetching (again) about her cover of Tom Petty’s I Won’t Back Down not being easily found on streaming platforms.

But you sure wouldn’t know that if you checked out some of the larger streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. That’s what Queerty’s Alex Reimer discovered when they did a bit of sleuthing.

Last night, Lara held quite the pity party for herself on Sean Hannity’s Fox News to whine about her non-existent problem. She blathered that she paid for a billboard in Times Square only for the company to disappear her name from the ad.

Reimer writes:

“It’s a miracle she was able to make it through!”

But somehow she found the strength to show up on Hannity’s program.

“About two hours before the billboard went up, they called and said ‘We can’t put it up with the last name ‘Trump.’ Could we just use ‘Lara?’ I said, ‘Absolutely not! My name is Lara Trump, I’m proud of that name. That’s my song. That’s what I paid, and that’s what we want up there,” she whined.

It’s reassuring to know the Trump name is as poisonous as the man himself. And considering all the trouble dear old father-in-law is in, especially in New York, she’s really rather stupid for not knowing people might not want to see more of that name.

“So Sean, instead of doing what we asked, they just put the picture up of me on the horse,” Lara continued on her not-so-fine-whine. “So if anybody was in Times Square on Friday, they were probably very confused, because there was no context to a picture of a woman on a horse.”

If Lara is so concerned about “context” perhaps the billboard people should have just shown a picture of the horse’s behind. That “context” would be more accurate.

And leave it to clever folks on X to come up with some salient commentary.

And this one really cracked me up:

You might remember that Lara Trump was canned last year by Fox News as a paid contributor, and in the meantime, she posted a few videos of herself playing the piano, and that, she said is how her music career began.

But don’t worry, she doesn’t want to be a professional singer.

“I love playing music that you can sing along to,” she told the Daily Mail. “But I’m not trying to be a professional singer.”

That’s a good thing because quite frankly, she stinks.

Years ago, my partner and I went to see the elephant seals at Ano Nuevo, a beach in California. When he heard one of the beach masters (what bull elephant seals are called) bellow, he said it sounded like someone farting into a pipe.

That still sounds better than Lara Trump. Her voice is very thin and nasal as if she has something crammed up her nose. Who knows, maybe she does.

And once again, at least a few folks on X were also not impressed with her voice.

Ouch, ouch, ouch!

Later in the Hannity interview, Lara whined about her so-called “shadow-banning,” and wondered why her song isn’t being played on the radio.

“It’s really sad. This is the kind of treatment that I think conservatives are used to,” she said. “We’re used to being censored, we’re used to being shadow-banned. (Frankly, I think conservatives never shut up, but that’s me). “So many people told me on Apple Music, on Spotify, on Amazon Music, they wouldn’t put my song on the radio, because it was too political.”

This off-key karaoke version of Tom Petty’s hit is “too political?” Really.

The likeliest reason why radio stations aren’t playing Lara’s rather boring version is because the beloved rocker’s family issued a cease-and-desist order three years ago. The family was angered at Donald Trump’s playing the song at his rallies.

“Both the late Tom Petty and his family firmly stand against racism and discrimination of any kind,” the family’s statement read. “Tom Petty would never want a song of his used for a campaign of hate. He liked to bring people together.”

But Lara, daughter-in-law of Donald Trump, stubbornly went ahead and recorded her version anyway. And radio stations may not be giving her air time because they don’t wish to go against the family’s wishes. Or perhaps they’re worried about lawsuits.

Or maybe, just maybe it’s because her version of “I Won’t Back Down” stinks more than week-old halibut in the back of the refrigerator.

In other words, Lara had better not give up her day job. Whatever the hell that is.
