Election 2020

The Trump Ally Most Likely to Flip Next is Going to Be a MAJOR Problem for Trump

Sidney Powell, Kenneth Chesebro, and Scott Hall have all flipped on Donald Trump in the Georgia election interference case and speculation is ramping up about who’s going to flip next. Many people believe attorney Jenna Ellis will be the next to take a plea deal and perhaps testify against her former client.

Chesebro, who was an attorney for the Trump campaign, agreed to plead guilty on Friday to a felony charge in the election interference case, just one day after former Trump attorney and co-defendant Sidney Powell garnered a plea agreement with prosecutors, Newsweek reports. Hall, a bail bondsman, struck his plea deal in September, pleading guilty to five misdemeanor conspiracy charges. So now, all three have brokered deals in exchange for lesser charges.

Ellis supported Trump at one time, but she no longer does and has deeply criticized the former president in the past few months due to his alleged lack of support for the 18 others indicted alongside him in Georgia.

In an interview with MSNBC host Katie Phang on Sunday, former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance discussed Ellis. Vance noted Ellis is already complaining about her legal costs and added that she really has the most to lose.

“Some of the defendants whose names aren’t dinner table conversation are likely to plead now that both Sidney Powell, who was involved there, has pleaded as well as Scott Hall, the first person to plead,” Vance said.

“My pick for the next significant plea that we’ll see is Jenna Ellis, one of Trump’s lawyers,” she said. “She [Ellis] had a lot of access to Trump and other lawyers, she has been public about his failure to help with the payment of her legal fees, and as this drags on, that natural pressure may encourage her to go ahead and be the next of the lawyers to flip.”

This seems to be the consensus among conservative commentators.

Trump supporter Laura Loomer, (who, let’s be honest here, is sort of a dingbat) posted on X: “Prepare to watch her take a Plea Deal in the next week. Hope those of you who donated $220,000 to her are happy. Your money will be used to attack President Trump.”

The far-right conservative commentator was, of course, referring to the money that Ellis raised on the GiveSendGo fundraising site. According to Ellis’ fundraising page “Jenna Ellis, former senior legal adviser and personal counsel to President Trump, is being targeted and the government is trying to criminalize the practice of law,” the text reads. “Help her fight back and stand for the truth!”

So far, there’s been no indication Ellis is beginning to or is willing to cooperate with Georgia prosecutors, but she’s spent plenty of time speaking out over the past months against Trump and his 2024 campaign.

In a September post on X, Ellis discussed the possibility of pardoning those convicted of non-violent crimes during the January 6 attack, noting: “DeSantis said he would consider pardons on a case by case basis.”

“Trump could have issued a blanket pardon before he left office, with certain requisite conditions to be ascertained later on a case by case basis (such as non-violent individuals for instance, to foreclose pardoning anyone in your example). Why didn’t he?” she asked.

In another post from earlier in September, Ellis wrote: “Has Trump defended the J6ers [January 6, 202 accused?] Has Trump defended the indicted lawyers? Has Trump defended the pastors jailed or threatened with fines over [former Chief Medical Advisor Anthony] Fauci’s failed COVID policies?”

In a more recent post expressing her support for DeSantis, Ellis noted: “I’m sick of a weak and feckless party that has no moral contours and is more concerned with memes than winning. The clear standout is Ron DeSantis, and he’s the only shot that Republicans have to win in 2024.” Trump, however, despite all the trouble he’s in, is still the frontrunner for the GOP 2024 presidential nomination.

Go figure. What does that tell you about Republicans?

It might be a pipe dream that all 18 defendants flip on Trump but it’s a good dream, at any rate.
