‘Dementia Is More Striking Every Day’: Trump, With Sweat Running Down His Face, Shocks People as He Confuses Countries

Donald Trump is being roasted online for goofing (bigly) and wildly overestimating the population of North Korea. He did this in the middle of a campaign stop in Hialeah, Florida Wednesday where he praised North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Newsweek reports.

“The press hates it when I say they’re (Vladimir Putin and Kim) smart,” the 77-year-old Trump told his audience. “Well, what am I supposed to say? They’re stupid people?”

“Kim Jong-un leads 1.4 billion people and there’s no doubt about who the boss is, and they want me to say, ‘He’s not an intelligent man.'”

“They get very personal when I say that, because they’re fake news, that’s why.”

Folks on X had plenty to say after footage of the ex-president’s comments were shared on the social media network. They didn’t failed to notice the rather huge flaw in the figures.

“The population of North Korea is 25 million,” wrote Ron Shillman.

Actually, according to the CIA, the population is just over 26 million, but considering Trump’s embarrassing whopper, this is small potatoes.

Others said the quiet part out loud.

“Let’s set aside the ongoing valorization of a maniacal homicidal totalitarian dictator by Trump; there is also the demographic inaccuracy,” observed @HawaiiDeliah. “Either he’s lying or a dolt.”

Most of us think he’s both.

Then there’s this:

“What is he talking about? There are more people in Texas than in North Korea,” said @liberalgenxvet.

Others suggested Trump was getting North Korea and China mixed up because after all, China has a population of 1.4 billion.

“Scary to think that, three years ago, he was the Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful nuclear arsenal in the world… that he’s running for it again… and he just mixed up China and North Korea,” said Scott Seymour.

Well, yeah, he was doing scary and awful things three years ago.

“Apparently real estate isn’t the only thing he overvalues by ridiculous amounts,” Marmel wrote, obviously referring to Trump’s civil fraud trial in New York.

“The real problem here isn’t the mental slip on the countries it’s his unabashed admiration of an authoritative style of government,” noted @ordinary_guy.

“Make Arithmetic Great Again,” Tony wisecracked.

The relationship between the U.S. and North Korea has been considerably less than perfect but somehow Trump and Kim struck up a friendship during his presidency. Even if Trump did call Kim “Rocket Man.”

Journalist Maggie Haberman — author of Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America — the two men are still in touch. That even became evident when representatives from the National Archives and Records Administration allegedly retrieved letters between Trump and Kim at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago residence.

“I think it’s not necessarily unusual for a former president to maintain some kind of contact with other foreign leaders, former foreign leaders,” Haberman told CNN in 2021.

“This would obviously be unusual because this is the only one, to my knowledge, that he is saying he is still in touch with. As we know he had a fixation on this relationship.”

But here’s the main thing about Trump: When it comes to talking in front of people, he has no filter. He’s just so happy to be the center of attention that he’ll say whatever it takes to keep the attention on him. It’s how he rolls.

And it’s probably the biggest reason why he should never, ever be president again.
