Forget all of the jokes about high heels. Okay, that would be difficult. But set aside, at least for a moment, the fact that the latest rumor about Ron DeSantis is that he wears heel lifts.

Set it aside because it’s meaningless.

At the last Republican primary debate, there was a commercial break during which Governor DeSantis left the stage. Maybe he had to pee, maybe the caffeine was wearing off having to listen to Haley and Ramaswamy snipe at each other. We don’t know.

We do know that on his way off the stage, he tripped on the stairs, Like, if it had been any worse, he’d have gone face-first into the stage.

Now, I’m not the guy who makes fun of him for that. We all trip, and at times we even fall. But the lack of response to what happened to DeSantis is deafening. Only his critics on social media are even saying anything.

Remember that time that Barack Obama was called an actual traitor for wearing a tan suit? The news didn’t put that down or set it aside for ages, It was the news of the day.

It’s only gotten worse for Democrats since then, and it’s culminated in in-depth coverage of every single verbal misstep, every half second of confusion on an unfamiliar stage, any hint of a stutter from President Joe Biden.

They are relentless. Even when Trump bumbled his way in front of the Queen of England, or nearly fell down a ramp, or climbed the steps to Air Force One with toilet paper on his shoe, these things were seen and almost immediately forgotten.

If Joe holds his tongue weird while he eats an ice cream cone, the mainstream news — yes, mostly Fox, but ALL of them still — treats it like he shaved off one eyebrow and drove around with his pants around his ankles.

It’s getting old. In fact, every candidate for president is getting old. Ron DeSantis isn’t immune to accidentally tripping on a debate stage, and that won’t be the last time it happens to him. But if Biden did exactly the same thing, the news would be dementia 24/7.

Own it, Ronnie boy! Trip down those stairs like an idiot. We’re all idiots some days. Just don’t go back up the steps after and declare the Joe’s incompetent.
