The New York Post, the conservative rag that gave us headlines like “Headless Body in Topless Bar”, is always putting out stories about Donald Trump and the Trump family. And because it’s owned by News Corp and Rupert Murdoch, those stories are usually very positive. Hard to believe that the Post was founded in 1801 by Alexander Hamilton. Yes, THAT Alexander Hamilton. But Murdoch has turned it into a right-wing rag that loves the Trumps.

On Christmas Day, Kimberly Guilfoyle released a family photo of the Trumps at Mar-a-Lago. It was mostly noticeable because Melania Trump was missing. However, we now know that she was missing, as was her mother, because her mother is very sick with cancer, and Melania was at her mother’s bedside. But Barron was there, standing in the back row towering over his father, and Barron didn’t look very happy. In fact he was the only person in the photo without a smile.

Page Six contacted Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Melania Trump’s former friend and former aide in the East Wing, and she said that Barron’s appearance in the photo is “truly monumental” and that we can expect to see more. Truly monumental? I don’t know if I would go that far!

From Page Six: “Barron has deliberately been kept out of the spotlight by his “strategic” mother, but was front and center in the photo posted by Kimberly Guilfoyle, Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancée, from Mar-a-Lago. Sources said Guilfoyle would never have posted the photo without permission.”

Page Six continued, “Wolkoff said Barron’s presence is telling: “Melania’s decision to include Barron in this family activity, even if she couldn’t be there herself, might be a significant turning point, potentially fostering a new level of support between Melania and Donald.”

“Barron’s appearance is truly monumental and shows Donald and Melania are in lockstep with one another,” she said.

“I believe we will be seeing more of him now. Nothing happens by chance with Melania.”

I think this is a lot of guessing on Winston-Wolkoff’s part. Melania is obviously a worried mess. Her mother has been sick with cancer for years and apparently it’s at very bad point where Melania is needed at her mother’s bedside. Perhaps Melania isn’t focusing on whether Barron is in a family Christmas photo or not. Or maybe she doesn’t care.

And that’s the story. That because Barron was in the photo that means we will be seeing more of him in the future. Well, that will happen anyway. Barron turns 18 in 3 months and then all bets are off. He’s no longer a child and will be followed by paparazzi and the press and he will have to deal with the media. So I really don’t see what the story is about?

But I looked at the comments, as I usually do, to see what people are saying. About 1/3 said the story was dumb, another 1/3 said that Barron is so handsome like his father and will someday be president, and the last 1/3 said that they thought Barron had some kind of disability, most likely autism. This rumor has been around for a while, with Rosie O’Donnell first bringing it up in late 2016, and later apologizing for mentioning it.

However, it is odd that we have never seen Barron speak. Like, ever. Of course he’s very young, but we’ve never seen him even speak in a family video, nothing. Of course he could just be shy, but that’s not what readers of the Post thought.

One commenter wrote, “I have always thought there is something off with Barron. Autism spectrum, maybe. He appears sullen, never smiling in any photos, and never makes eye contact with the camera. And, “front and center”? He’s in the back row, behind people. Another indicator that he may be on the spectrum, not wanting to be the focus of attention.”

Another said, “Isn’t he non-verbal? I swear I have never heard him speak, which is really something considering he’s a trump.”

Another said, “Ever wonder why Barron has never said ANYTHING. Notice he is the ONLY one in the picture not smiling. Ever see him smile. I knew someone who worked at the school he attended in NYC. I have to think the press know his situation and are being quiet. Dont get your hopes up he will do more in the campaign”

Many comments said that Barron always looked sad, “I think there’s something seriously wrong with Baron. He never smiles or talks and always looks terribly sad.”

Obviously we aren’t going to give an opinion. However, if Barron is on the spectrum I would hope Melania would speak about it as it would be the most amazing way to spread awareness about this often misunderstood condition. Sadly though, I feel Donald Trump wouldn’t allow it. He could never admit a child of his was less than “perfect”, even though Don Jr. and Eric are his children. Trump has also made comments questioning whether vaccines cause autism which was strange for him to comment on. But again, if Barron did have autism, I could see Trump wanting to blame vaccines, so he could say it was the vaccine’s fault…and nothing that he did. Luckily, it does seem that Melania is a devoted mom, and I am sure she will do whatever it right for Barron. And I am guessing we will soon know more about him, because just look at how the Obama girls are followed everywhere they go. The press refuse to let them be, and I am sure it will be the same with Barron. However, the Obama girls live normal lives. I expect Barron will remain under the careful eye of his mother. If and where he goes to college will be telling.
