Desperate for Relevancy Again, Meghan McCain Threatens Lawsuit After Being Compared to Hunter Biden

Ana Navarro, who co-hosts The View, has stirred up a hornet’s nest in the form of Meghan McCain, who was furious after Navarro insinuated that McCain’s behavior has often been similar to Hunter Biden’s. As in doing things like continually relying on her last name to influence people, while Hunter is mired in heaps of legal problems, which I’m not going to delve into here. I’m instead going to focus on McCain’s continual need for attention.

She’s turned Navarro’s comments into fightin’ words. She’s so angry that she’s threatening a lawsuit, Newsweek reports.

McCain said she plans to consult her lawyers about “what was libeled against” her on Thursday’s episode of the popular talk show. Navarro joined The View not long after McCain left in 2021, and, according to Newsweek, suggested that the late Sen. John McCain’s daughter “influence-peddled” her family name.

This seems like a fairly innocuous comment, especially when you consider the Trump family, who have stamped their last name all over everything. Even so, McCain is really fuming over this, even though Navarro’s comments were fairly mild.

“Look, did Hunter Biden influence-peddle on his last name? Yes, he did. So did half of Washington. People sitting at this table did it!” Navarro exclaimed, shocking her co-hosts. This led Alyssa Farah Griffin to ask who Navarro was referring to. She responded, “I’m not talking about currently.” That drew guffaws from the panel and the audience.

Navarro didn’t mention McCain by name. But McCain believes Navarro was referring to her. And that was enough for McCain to think she can file a lawsuit.

“All accusations are absurd, defamatory and slanderous,” McCain asserted in a Thursday post on X.

Since Navarro didn’t mention McCain by name I fail to see how this is slanderous. I mean, maybe McCain knows more about this than I do, but her umbrage at this seems really silly to me.

McCain joined the show in 2017 and remained for four seasons until her departure. And it seems like she’s been complaining about the show ever since. She’d originally said she was leaving the New York City-based show so she could raise her daughter in Washington, D.C. (poor kid). Then, unsurprisingly, she blamed a “toxic” environment in her audiobook, where she paid special attention to co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar — by name.

But I guess if McCain name-drops it’s okay. Naturally, social media users had thoughts.
