Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ Cruelty Reaches Unbelievable New Heights This Holiday Season

Sarah Huckabee Sanders is well-known for her dislike of people in the LGBTQ+ community but her cruelty really knows no bounds. Under her leadership, hundreds of thousands of Arkansans have been kicked off Medicaid and she couldn’t be bothered to grant clemency to a man who’s been stuck in a state prison for 32 years for a murder he almost certainly didn’t commit. Even though another man has confessed to the murder, Sanders still denied clemency to Charlie Vaughn.

But as Queerty notes, she did manage to pardon a turkey, however.

This is who the real Sarah Huckabee Sanders is.

And earlier this year, as the COVID health crisis officially ended, the federal government ruled that states would have to start verifying everyone’s eligibility again. The Biden administration gave states a year to sort this situation out, but Arkansas blew right through this, expediting the time period to just six months. Sanders justified the massive cuts by saying they were necessary to reduce “government dependency.”

So that means there are almost 427,500 people in Arkansas who were kicked off Medicaid since April. And for the most part, many didn’t even realize it.

This tragic situation received some attention from The New York Times, which highlighted just how cruel this has been. This included the story of Tamikka Burks, who was forced to drive to Kansas — a 10-hour slog, for an abortion. All because she could no longer afford the drugs that could lessen her high-risk pregnancy. When Roe v. Wade was overturned, Arkansas, backward as always, especially with Sanders in office, made abortion virtually illegal.

Burks suffers from high blood pressure and has been taking two medications to fight this, but now that she no longer has Medicaid, she can only afford one of them.

“I literally have $50 from now until Friday,” she told the Times.

Then there’s the equally cruel story of Charles and Phyllis Wells, who are brother and sister. Both rely on home aids. Charles, 70, cares for Phyllis, who is nonverbal, as he deals with his own physical limitations. Medicaid covers an aide who comes to their home five days a week. This ensures that Phyllis is showered and fed.

The aide also helps Charles, who uses a walker or wheelchair when he attends his doctor appointments.

You can be sure Sanders will never have to deal with these problems. She’ll undoubtedly have all the healthcare she needs. That hasn’t been the case for Charles, who has been told time and again, since last December, that his coverage is over. He’s gone through a series of legal battles to get it restored but he always, always worries his coverage will lapse again.

“There are more people out there just like Phyllis. They need this,” he said. “[State officials] don’t understand — maybe they don’t care — that they are actually hurting people, they’re impacting people’s lives.”

This includes Sholonda Woods and her teen daughter, who were tossed off Medicaid in February. Sholonda was forced to go through a grueling process in order to obtain Medicaid again. This included months of haggling with government bureaucrats (who probably don’t have to worry about their healthcare either) but her case was eventually resolved. During this time, her daughter didn’t receive the ADHD medications she needed.

Sanders had to have learned to be cruel through her father, Mike Huckabee, who was also governor of Arkansas. You’d think she would at least make an effort to be kind. But that’s not how she rolls.

No, this political nepo baby is doing things like buying dumb $20,000 podiums. She’s directing most of her putridness at the LGBTQ+ community and pushing for ridiculous and completely meaningless policies. Like, y’know, removing “Latinx” and other gender-neutral terms from state documents. She’s even signed her very own “Don’t Say Gay” bill and even appointed Jacob Oliva, the engineer of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, to head Arkansas’ education department.

She’s also signed a law preventing transgender teachers and students from using school bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond with their gender identities.

Sure, Sanders did call a special legislative session in the fall, but not to address important issues. No, this time she signed a bill that loosened the state’s public records laws. Making it easier to be held accountable for anything. She’s doing things like this while Arkansas ranks 49th in the nation for quality of life, and 50th in the nation for quality of health.

And naturally, with this kind of track record, she shares one big thing with her father, Mike Huckabee. She has the lowest approval rating of any Arkansas governor in 20 years. Meaning she beats out dear old Dad.

Well, like father, like daughter, I guess. I’m sad for the people of Arkansas, even if they are the ones who elected her.
