Capitol Rioter ‘Bullhorn Lady’ Cries as She Heads to Prison and Admits ‘I Destroyed Everything…for Nothing’

She earned the nickname the “Bullhorn Lady” and the “Pink Hat Lady” as she and the rest of the rioting mob tried, and fortunately failed to take over the U.S. Capitol building on January 6, 2021. Like so many others now doing time for this, Rachel Powell, has plenty of regrets. Powell has found out that like the old saying, regrets really are expensive. She has admitted that she “destroyed everything” in her life because of what she did during the protest.

Powell admitted this the day before she began serving her prison sentence due to her involvement, Newsweek reports. As a mother, she regrets what she’s done to her family, and she was sentenced to a whopping 57 months in prison last October.

As the January 6 protesters smashed windows and broke through barriers to enter the Capitol while the 2020 election results were being certified in an attempt to prevent the transfer of power, Powell was seen on video using an ice axe to smash a window so that she and other rioters could gain entry into the Capitol. All of these people were whipped into a frenzy over an obvious lie that former President continues to baselessly claim — that the election was subject to fraud, even though no credible evidence has ever been found to support this assertion.

Powell has been whining this week about having to go to prison, even tweeting about how it’s SO UNFAIR:

Powell began her prison term Tuesday, after spending three years wearing an ankle bracelet and being confined to her home in rural Pennsylvania. The judge has also ordered her to pay more than $8,000 in restitution, fines, and fees.

“I regret [that day]. I have a lot of remorse for ruining my family’s life,” she told CNN on Monday. “In one day, I destroyed everything, really for nothing.”

Talk about an understatement.

However, in some ways, Powell is sorry/not sorry.

“I don’t have remorse for attending protests; I don’t have remorse for speaking out and saying that I believe that the election is stolen. I do have remorse for breaking a window and destroying my whole family’s life, and for thinking irrationally.”

“I love my children so much, and so it’s like the last thing they can take from me—that’ll be the hard part, and I don’t deserve this and my kids don’t deserve it,” Powell said, tears welling in her eyes. Aged 43, Powell has eight children and six grandchildren.

Powell was convicted of crimes that included entering a restricted building with a dangerous weapon, engaging in physical violence, and destruction of government property.

Video footage of the riot shows Powell using an ice axe to shatter one of the Capitol building windows, through which she and others gained entry. Prosecutors alleged she refused to follow police warnings to leave the premises and used her bullhorn to direct other rioters.

However, Powell says she didn’t bring the ice axe—instead, someone in the mob handed it to her. She also contends police never told her to leave.

This woman has a lot of nerve, however. She also said that being “completely in pain” made her act without thinking.” While the pain was being inflicted by the surly mob on police who were trying to do jobs and instilling fear in those who were supposed to be inside the Capitol.

Pain can make you irrational, so maybe that’s true in her case, but she brought it on herself.

“I’d been hit with a baton, I’d been grabbed and thrown, I’d been sprayed—my whole body was on fire,” she told CNN. “I don’t think there was rational thinking in my head at that point.”

Well, she’s still not rational. She is still convinced that Trump won the 2020 election and said she hopes he wins in November so that he can pardon her. Hopefully, she’s wrong here and he loses in November and she does her time. I feel a little bit sorry for her but the fact that she still believes “the big lie” and the fact that people lost their lives in this failed insurrection means she definitely deserves those 57 months in the pokey.
