GOP Hypocrisy

Trump’s Allies Are Using Melania’s Dead Mother in the Most Disgusting Way Ever

With the recent passing of Melania Trump’s mother, Donald Trump’s Republican allies have acted like this is a golden opportunity to support their favorite candidate, who was apparently so grief-stricken by the woman’s death that he held a campaign event in Iowa and conducted a fiery press conference outside the Manhattan courtroom after his $370 million civil fraud trial concluded. Some are claiming that terrible, horrible Judge Arthur Engoron should have delayed closing arguments so that the former president could comfort his wife during his time of need.

One such nudnik is Montana Sen. Steve Daines, who complained on X that “This trial has been a joke from the beginning and not delaying it because of a death in the immediate family only solidifies Judge Engoron’s political agenda,” according to Queerty.

The other two are Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville, former White House doctor, and current Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson, who are Republicans. Of course.

“These people are soulless,” Tuberville whined, even though, as Queerty notes, he blocked most military promotions throughout 2023.

I guess he doesn’t think that’s “soulless.” Hmm.

“Can our ‘justice system’ stoop any lower?” Jackson complained.

Maybe he’s still big mad that he was briefly detained, handcuffed, and forced face-first onto the ground by Texas law enforcement, even though he was helping a teen girl in medical distress, CNN reports. That would be enough to put anyone in a bad mood. While Jackson deserves kudos for doing this, it doesn’t excuse his drunken, bullying behavior during his time at the White House.

On Tuesday, one of Trump’s lawyers asked the judge if closing arguments could be delayed until January 24 because of the passing of Melania’s mother, Amalija Knavs. While Judge Engoron replied he was “sorry to hear the sad news,” he couldn’t grant the request.

Knavs, who had been battling health issues since late last year, died on January 9, reports say.

People, like our favorite Ron Filipowski, pointed out that the day Trump was in court, he wasn’t acting like he was grieving:

Republicans like Tuberville, Daines, and Jackson can pretend to be as upset as they like, but this is likely little more than an attempt to brown-nose Trump for their own agenda. X users could see through this and believe me, they offered their own thoughts, some of which were definitely fiery.
