‘Beat the Sh*t Out of a Police Officer!’: Rioter Who Assaulted Cops and Was ‘At Peace’ With Dying on Jan. 6 Learns His Fate

I don’t know what it is with these “Jan. Sixers,” my new term for the crazed Trump supporters who mobbed the Capitol building on January 6, 2021. Despite the fact that people died during this riot, including police officers who were just trying to do their jobs, these fools keep whining that they deserve leniency. This includes Minnesota resident Brian Christopher Mock, a father of four who carried a police baton as a weapon during the riot and then bragged that he “beat the sh*t out of a police officer,” Law & Crime reports.

Mock pleaded his case in a sentencing memo, where he asked the court for a sentence of time served with a period of supervised release. Because he wanted to demonstrate that the “transformation he has achieved is real and lasting.”

Well heckin’ gefoodlehoppers, the 44-year-old Mock will have to show that “transformation” in prison. He was sentenced to 33 months in prison, with 24 months of supervised release. He’s also been ordered to pay $2,710 in restitution and fines by U.S. District Court Chief Judge James Boasberg, who was appointed to this position by former President Barack Obama. Mock could have been sentenced to a maximum of 20 years and prosecutors were seeking a sentence of 109 months, so he’s fortunate that he’ll only be serving 33 months. Because the sentence for the people killed as a result of the riot is eternity.

So he lucked out.

Mock, who is the father of four boys and the owner of a landscaping business was sentenced following a bench trial in July. He was convicted of six felonies, including obstruction of an official proceeding, obstructing police officers during a civil disorder, and four counts of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers. He was also convicted of a cavalcade of misdemeanors that included theft, trespassing, and disorderly conduct, the U.S. Attorney’s Office reported in a press release.

Mock pressed Judge Boasberg for leniency, saying, “I’m not someone who showed up in tactical gear, with tasers and bear spray. It’s a moment that I got caught up in, The Associated Press reports.

“As the letters submitted on his behalf note, he is not the same person as he was upon his arrest or even his release from custody,” his public defender wrote in the sentencing statement. “He has grown, matured, and become much more self-reflective.”

Judge Boasberg wasn’t having it, saying Mock went there expecting violence on January 6. Authorities pointed out evidence that included one Facebook post he wrote on January 8 saying “I went to the Capitol not knowing what to expect but said goodbye to my 4 children, not sure if I was going to come home. I was at peace with that knowledge.”

“So it’s hard to think you came simply as a bystander,” Boasberg told the defendant, according to The Associated Press.

Mock made his way to Washington from Minneapolis with a gang of fellow Trumpertistas to attend the “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington. Oh, and to do that other thing, you know — “protest” Congress’ certification of the 2020 election results. Authorities say Mock called for “total rebellion” and “a complete destruction of the Federal government” on social media. They note he was expecting violence and even told a family member he might die there. At the Capitol’s west plaza, he helped fellow rioters remove a bike rack barricade and pushed an officer who had already fallen as the crowd surged forward.

Mock’s next steps were to grab a flagpole, snap it in half, and then hurl it “like a spear” at the line of officers, according to authorities. As Law & Crime reports, “He shoved one officer in the back and another in the chest, sending that officer into concrete steps in excruciating pain.”

The police fell back and at that point, Mock picked up a pair of police riot shields that were lying on the ground and handed them to rioters as the mob pressed forward. Officers tried to stop the mob by spraying mace. Mock captured that moment in a photo that showed him with a reddened eye that looked irritated. He also picked up a police baton and carried it around “as a weapon,” authorities reported.

And this jerk wanted the judge to be lenient. Really? After the hell he and his fellow idiots helped create? He bragged about the things he did — “Got sprayed directly 3 times, took a flash bang and took down at least 6 cops” and “I took 3 gates 2 shields and a bunch of equipment. I shouldn’t have thrown ’em,” he bragged to a friend.

“Teargassed 6 times, pepper sprayed, and mustard gassed at the end. But we stayed true to being Patriots, marched to the Capital [sic] and stormed the Frontline … no regrets … ashamed of the blue that harmed everyone there to stand for the cause[.]” he boasted in another post.

Fortunately, there are tipsters in the world. Including one who reported to the FBI that Mock “has a criminal history involving guns and seems to be extremist.” The FBI was able to corroborate that Mock had a firearms-related conviction in 2010.

Mock did do one good thing for the world — he produced an oldest son with a sense of decency. Who provided one tip to the FBI, accompanied by tips from several others, The New York Times reports. Those tips reported Mock’s own words on social media, along with text messages to friends bragging about his exploits. This includes one tip where he revealed he went to Washington and came home “bragging about beating up cops and destroying property in the capital,” telling one friend he “beat the sh*t out of a police officer.”

I’m usually no fan of police because there are far too many Black men who fear for their lives every time they see flashing police lights. And they have good reason to, considering what happened to George Floyd, Eric Garner, and Mike Brown.

The officers who dealt with the violent mob on January 6, 2021, are another story. They really were just doing their jobs. So I’m glad Mock will be serving 33 months. It’s the least he can do after the devastation he and his fellow Trump supporters can do.
