Russian State TV Mocks Trump’s ‘Redneck’ Supporters, ‘Not Very Smart Primitive People’

This is hilarious and sad.

Imagine being a huge supporter of a particular candidate and learning that it’s not just the people in your own country who don’t like that guy who think you’re an idiot.

Imagine, in fact, you look up international broadcasts from other countries about your guy’s campaign for president of the United States, you go through to trouble of translating them, and you find out that the anchors of a major newscast around the world are calling you a moron.

A clip of nearly a minute of footage from NTV’s Meeting Point, a panel-style news show on the state-controlled network owned by energy corporation Gazprom (imagine if Exxon owned NBC, basically) was posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday.

With an English translation alongside it, the clip shows Maxim Yusin, a Russian journalist and political pundit, saying, “The majority of people who vote for Trump are not very smart, primitive people with whom you need to talk like this, with cliches and dumb slogans.”

That, of course, sparks laughter from the rest of the panel. And what hurts the most is that it wouldn’t actually be funny if it weren’t true.

One panelist calls them the Russian equivalent word meaning “rednecks” and compares them to begging villagers.

A third talks about Trump himself, saying that he “shuffles around the same 10 words, such a bastard, that’s all… This man is planning to be president again.”

This is what you get, Trumpers.

I hate to say it, but these people are right. Trump voters are hopelessly uneducated for the most part. They are mostly rural, single-issue voters. And it’s a pity that their uninformed votes — for a man who has now been adjudicated a rapist, been fined nearly half a billion dollars in less than a month, and still faces 91 felony charges — are worth just as much as the rest of our votes.

Russia, of course, loves Trump. Trump loves Putin and wants to cut off all aid to Ukraine, which is Russia’s ultimate goal. His supporters, however… Let’s just say that Russia understands them in exactly the same way that Trump himself does: As idiots who can be led by the nose to do anything he wants.
