Melania Finally Agrees to Attend an Event…on Hitler’s Birthday — and Probably for a Hefty Fee

I wonder if she'd do this for non-Republicans?

The Log Cabin Republicans are a group of conservatives who lean to the right. That’s important context, since most people who are gay or lesbian, bisexual, or transgender, are not Republicans.

But they did largely support Donald Trump, which is likely why his wife, Melania, is planning on doing a fundraiser for them, at (of all places) at her husband’s Mar-a-Lago resort. After all, no one can expect Melania to actually get in a car and GO SOMEWHERE…that’s just too much. Or perhaps, that’s an additional fee.

Despite the fact that Donald has supported laws and policies that would take rights from them, the Log Cabin Republicans are still, well… Republicans. It doesn’t make much sense, but then nothing’s made much sense since January of 2017. The group has been around longer than that, however.

Melania, unlike the LCR, has not been very visible this campaign season. It could be that she’s busy with her son Barron, or it could be that maybe she’s a little apprehensive to appear publicly since her husband was found liable for nearly half a billion dollars after raping not only a woman, but a city.

For some reason, she has decided to finally show her face in public, and to do so in support of possibly the unlikeliest group.

The event is planned for April 20th, and while it may seem unusual, Melania has actually had a strong relationship with the group since her husband’s time in office. She was even given an award by the LCR at the “Spirit of Lincoln” extravaganza, which was also held at Trump’s Florida mansion in 2022. April 20th is also Adolf Hitler’s birthday. Let’s hope that’s a coincidence, but with these MAGA types you can never be too sure.

Maybe the most ironic part of all of this is the state it’s being held in. Florida’s governor Ron DeSantis, Donald Trump’s former rival for the Republican nomination during the primary season, is famously known for being anti-gay, and even signed the bill in his state that came to be known as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, preventing teachers from even discussing any alternate sexuality than straight.

But Melania has embraced them. She hasn’t announced anything else yet, as far as appearances are concerned, most likely due to her husband’s prior and pending court cases. Although she’s raised objections to the speculation that her reclusivity is due to being “betrayed” by former staffers, she seems open to finally appearing on the campaign trail with Donald.

The question remains: Why?
