2024 Election
Wisconsin Trump Voters Say They Won’t Vote for Kamala Because She’s ‘Not Real Smart’ and an ‘Idiot’
It will be a momentous day if Vice President Kamala wins the 2024 presidential election. She would have the distinction of becoming the first female president and this would be a real victory for all women of all stripes in the U.S. While I appreciate all the work President Joe Biden has accomplished while in office, Harris is comparatively younger and a real go-getter and that will be a relief.
But there’s a passel of right-wing women voters who are throwing stones at Harris, perhaps trying to set back women’s rights another few more decades. As if that hasn’t happened enough already, with Roe v. Wade being reversed, plunging women’s abortion rights into the Dark Ages. Okay, it’s not that bad, but it’s not good either.
These women, a panel of Wisconsin voters cast doubt on Harris’s intelligence and her competence during a segment that aired on Morning Joe Wednesday, according to The Daily Caller’s Jason Cohen.
Harris began her campaign by touting her qualifications instead of bringing up the issues of race and identity since Sunday when President Joe Biden exited the race and endorsed her. The panel of Trump-supporting women voters told NBC political analyst Elise Jordan that they consider Harris to be an incompetent “idiot.”
“How do you perceive Vice President Harris compared to President Biden in terms of competency and experience?” Jordan asked.

One woman said she thinks Harris will be “worse.” Another woman added, “She doesn’t even know what’s going on at the border. That’s what she was supposed to be doing.” I don’t think this woman understands that the border situation is a problem that’s been plaguing presidents stretching all the way back to the Obama administration, if not before.
At that point, Jordan asked the women when they believed the United States would have its first woman president.
“When there’s a competent one,” a different voter said.
“I don’t get a good feel for her” one woman said, while a voter named Mary said, “I think she’s an idiot.”
But she doesn’t think Donald “windmills cause cancer” Trump is an idiot. Just because these are Republican women this doesn’t mean they are capable of critical thinking.
Jordan pressed Mary on why she felt this way about Harris.
“Because she hasn’t done anything in the time that she’s had. We don’t know anything about her as far as her three years so far in the White House. She’s not real smart.”
A different Wisconsin voter panel of men and women wondered whether Harris helped to hide Biden’s alleged health issues in a segment that also aired on Morning Joe Wednesday.
“She also helped to keep him in where he’s at right now and if he is really as bad as what they have been saying, I think if he steps down as president and she steps into the presidency before the end of his term, it almost makes me question a little bit more why it didn’t happen sooner,” one voter told Jordan. “She’s worked with him. She’s been, to my understanding, with him daily or at least a couple of days a week. Why hasn’t this been brought to attention? If she is willing to hide that type of information, once she’s in office, now, what is she willing to hide for herself?”
“So I think that makes me a little bit uneasy, not necessarily I wouldn’t vote for her, but it definitely opens that questioning of why now? Why are you now being okay with exposing Biden’s health concerns? Is it because it benefits you?” the voter continued, after which a male voter described Harris as a “power grabber.”
Jordan asked if “it calls into the Vice President’s judgment that she has been around while Biden’s health has deteriorated,” and this seemed to resonate with the panel, with everyone appearing to agree with this.
But it’s typical of The Daily Caller to present this story in a one-sided way. I’m not trying to single the publication out, because so many journalists, including myself, often do this. It seems to have become a bigger problem with the advent of social media, where it’s easier for everyone to take their own sides.
Media Bias/ Fact Check, which is a site I frequently use to ascertain how biased an outlet is, and it ranked Daily Caller’s factual reporting as mixed and right-leaning. In reviewing Daily Caller, Media Bias found:
“The Daily Caller is a strongly conservative news and opinion website involved in publishing controversial and false stories. For example, they routinely publish misleading or false information regarding climate change that goes against the consensus of science. The Daily Caller has also published articles by Jason Kessler, a white supremacist who organized a rally of hundreds of white nationalists in Charlottesville. They subsequently scrubbed those articles after the Charlottesville vehicular homicide incident.”
Ultimately it also found:
“Overall, we rate the Daily Caller as strongly right-biased based on story selection that almost always favors the right and Mixed for factual reporting due to numerous failed fact checks. The Daily Caller is a source that needs to be fact-checked on a per-article basis.”
In a way, we have to take Daily Caller with a sizable grain of salt. Because the women in these panels are kind of shooting themselves in their collective feet. Harris wants to advance women’s rights. She wants to strengthen laws to protect abortion rights and she is expected to make this a focal point of her candidacy. And she said so in her first rally, which was held in Wisconsin.
“She’s eager to portray herself as a direct and consistent advocate with a history of fighting for reproductive health issues, especially Black maternal health, according to PBS News.
“We who believe in reproductive freedom will stop Donald Trump’s extreme abortion bans, because we trust women to make decisions about their own bodies and not have their government tell them what to do,” she said to loud cheers at a Wisconsin rally.”
I understand that the women in these panels may come from more comfortable backgrounds given that they are conservative, meaning that abortion isn’t a key issue for them. But it is a key issue for women who live in less comfortable circumstances, and frankly, that’s most of us nowadays. And when they criticize Harris’s intelligence, they are really bringing another woman down and showing their own biases.
I’ve included the video below of the Morning Joe segment about the panel.
