Most Trump supporters have stuck with the former president because he stays the course when it comes to being supremely conservative. He takes the hardest line on women’s rights, immigration, taxes, and anything else you can think of that triggers the right.

But he especially always endorses the most conservative candidates for other races.

That wasn’t the case in Missouri, as he found out.

It is my suspicion that Trump got tired of people he endorsed losing, so he backed a candidate in the gubernatorial primary in Missouri that he thought had the better chance of winning.

Then, as he always does, he could come in and claim credit for “his” candidate’s win.

But the MAGA crowd was none too happy with the primary win of Mike Kehoe, the current Lieutenant Governor. Trump accompanied Kehoe’s victory with a Truth Social post on his own account with an image of the candidate and the phrase “Mike Kehoe wins! Endorsed by President Trump.”

His fans were quick to react.

One pro-Trump account responded “Bad choice. Not going to be good for us Missourians,” while another Trumper simply wrote “Booooo!,” followed by saying “[MO State Senator Bill] Eigel was a much better choice.”

Another self-declared “God-Fearing, Conservative Christian” called Kehoe “a RINO that true Missourians did NOT want!”

A RINO, of course, is a Republican In Name Only, as in, someone who campaigns as a Republican but doesn’t kowtow to the hard right when it comes to policy. RINO is one of the worst insults among Trump fans, with the former president having used it himself any number of times to describe people that didn’t follow in his own footsteps.

One particular Trumper, who is dangerously close to actually getting it about Trump, wrote “Do your research or keep your mouth shut!”

Imagine Cletus saying that out loud at a Trump rally. Now imagine how angry that guy must have been to have commented it right on Trump’s post.

But the centerpiece of the criticism came from the user who went the most in-depth with their appraisal of Trump’s “turn” against MAGA principles:

I pray Bill Eigel will ask for an audit, because why would anyone want a paid for liar who rides around in a green and blue bus, paid for by a Chinese company, and voted to sell our land 3 times to foreign countries, took money from the Gates family, and wants amnesty for illegals? Apparently, you, since you endorsed him. What has happened to you?

Yikes.
