2024 Election

Top Journalist Says He’s Got Information on a Story That Would ‘End Donald Trump’s Campaign’

This would be huge.

Mark Halperin has been around for a long time. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s the world’s greatest journalist or anything, but it has afforded him some insight. For example, Halperin was at the leading edge of reporting on Joe Biden’s decision to leave the 2024 presidential race.

Now Halperin says that people are pitching him stories in this short run-up to the election — remember, we’re less than two weeks away. And whether those people have an agenda for getting one person elected over another, it’s a journalist’s job to report anything they find to be factual.

Speaking on his YouTube show Morning Meeting, Halperin acknowledged that there have been efforts to “pull a Comey” in this election, referring to the former FBI director’s announcement of new evidence in the Clinton email scandal back in 2016. But despite not knowing the veracity of the claims yet, he said he knows of one story that was pitched to him that, if true, “would end Donald Trump’s campaign.”

October’s nearly over, so there’s not much more time for an October Surprise. But I can’t help but feel like if there is one, Mark is sitting on it in order to not “pull a Comey” himself.

And if he’s not trying to stay neutral, then it surely has to be him trying to put his thumb on the scale for Trump. Because he’s saying “What we’re seeing in the final days are actors who want a certain outcome, and “There are people pitching stuff, and if it were true, it would end his campaign.”

If it WERE true, meaning he doesn’t believe that it is, or he’s telling you he doesn’t believe it.

I’m inclined to believe that he doesn’t want you to believe what’s being said, whether it’s whatever the mystery thing he knows is or anything else that comes out just before the election. If he was a real journalist, he’d follow every avenue, and either report his findings as true, or quash the rumors.

Why am I so skeptical about Halperin? Well, it could have something to do with the fact that his co-host is none other than Sean Spicer, a man who’s still loyal to Donald Trump even after being forced to make a fool of himself day after day following the “biggest inauguration ever” lie he had to tell over and over.

Or it could be that his main employer now is Newsmax, a notoriously right-wing source that was the only place that would take him after he was fired from ABC, NBC, and Showtime over more than a dozen sexual harassment and even assault allegations.

In fact, underpinning my belief that Halperin himself is trying to sway the election by meticulously avoiding swaying it the “wrong” way is the fact that he went on in this episode to talk about how, “if these numbers hold” in the swing states, Donald Trump is sure to win.

Polling is notoriously unreliable. The only ones Donald Trump himself even cites anymore are the Polymarket projections, which isn’t really polling, but rather a prediction based on people betting on the outcome, like stock market futures.

In my opinion, I think the election is Kamala’s for the taking. I don’t mean you can relax and stay home or anything, but in race where the most recent news is about one of the candidates advocating for fascism, I’ll take the non-fascist. And so will most people.
