Bettina Anderson, the Palm Beach socialite that Donald Trump Junior traded in his fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle for, is still not quite welcome in the hearts of Trump’s MAGA supporters. It really is too bad, since she’s going to be around whether they like it or not. Trump and his family proved long ago that they don’t actually care what MAGA wants. They do what they like.

That sentiment has only been growing in recent weeks. From the meltdown over immigrant visas between Elon Musk and the MAGA faithful to disagreeing over whether Trump should be nice to Jimmy Carter in death, Trump’s voting base is finding out over and over that their leader’s loyalty is to himself.

And so is his son’s.

Anderson, however, is another story. I really don’t see MAGA coming around on her, unless she makes some kind of public statement of loyalty to the America First cause.

The reasons are manifold, and they all underscore something that MAGA hasn’t seemed to figure out yet: The Trumps don’t actually have political principles. MOST Republicans don’t, in fact, and a depressing number of Democrats don’t either.

By that, I mean, Trump is married to a woman who is vocally pro-choice. Before he ran for office as a Republican, he was anti-gun, pro-choice, and donated regularly to Democrats across the country. He donated to Kamala Harris’s 2015 campaign in California. 2015.

Junior was engaged to Kim Guilfoyle, who was previously married to Gavin Newsom, the VERY Democratic governor of California. Ivanka palled around with Rihanna and JLo and donated nearly a quarter million dollars to the National Urban League — basically the economic version of Black Lives Matter.

MAGA doesn’t know much, if any, of all that. They believe the Trump family was lovingly placed on earth to make the brown people leave America. Or something like that.

Bettina Anderson has the unfortunate circumstance of having all of her ostensibly liberal pursuits out in the open before MAGA has had a chance to develop the required cognitive dissonance to process it. So the fact that she’s posted certain things to her Instagram — the platform that made her famous enough to attract a Trump’s attention — has made MAGA detractors contest her addition to the Trump family.

They question her loyalty.

And the thing is, these were relatively innocuous posts. Certainly not indicators that she was actually doing anything to help the causes she was pretending to support. Maybe the post where she was wearing a mask and captioned it “Only you can stop the spread of ignorance” could be construed as actively not being a dumbass, but for the most part, her “liberal” posts have all been lip service.

MAGA acts like the fact that she posted a black square in support of Black Lives Matter on her social media account in 2020 means she might as well have been shouting “defund the police!”

And we can’t even get into how she’s made it clear that she plans to be childless. She posted an image to Instagram of her pushing a stroller… Full of bags from clothes shopping. The caption drove it home: “When my friends tell me the joys of having children, I’m always moved by just how tired they look.”

How can THAT be anything but a Taylor Swift-worshipping Childless Cat Lady that JD Vance warned them all about?!

Even now, Anderson’s bio on social media reads, “I’m just your typical stay at home mom…only I don’t do household chores…or have a husband…or have kids…” Why, that’s enough to make a red-blooded MAGA Republican cry.

Weeks ago, gossip rag Daily Mail reported that people inside the actual Trump transition were freaking out: “The transition is delivering big wins for the country. We can’t afford to have any headaches or liabilities trying to grift their way to more Instagram followers. Especially ones who aren’t MAGA to begin with.”

The folks in MAGA, however, are just going to have to get used to it. Obviously Junior’s daughter Kai already like Bettina enough to have let her be in her and her friends’ TikTok video where she announced her commitment to play golf at the University of Miami.

As I said before, Bettina Anderson was with the Trumps over Christmas, she’s going to be with them at the New Year festivities, and I guarantee she’ll have a seat of honor at Donald Trump’s inauguration. I would be willing to wager that Junior proposes to her before 2026.

They better get over their purity tests, or MAGA is going to have to find another empty idiot to turn into a false idol.
