Social Media Caught Trump Wearing What Appears to be ‘Dementia Shoes’ and They’re Having a Field Day

Trump critics and social media sleuths have taken to Twitter to closely inspect a photo of Donald Trump while he was in California. It seems one aspect of his appearance might lead towards his downfall. Literally and figuratively.

In one photo of Trump about to board a plane, he can be seen wearing a brown pair of chunky shoes, which look noticeable against the slimmer cut of his trousers. Zooming into his shoes and taking a photo, Twitter user Claude Taylor shared the photo and asked whether anybody was aware of the brand of the shoes.

Several people had their own conspiracies and interpretations of the president’s choice of footwear. However, some thought it could be a sure sign that his time in office might be shorter than first anticipated.

Taylor wrote: “Any footwear experts out there? Can you identify the brand/maker of Trumpโ€™s new lift/dementia shoes?” The term “dementia shoes” seemed to be the most popular explanation in the comment section.

So-called dementia shoes are designed to help people with the condition who may be experiencing trouble with fine motor skills. They are easier to put on and take off as they don’t feature laces โ€“ much like Trump’s.

Someone replied to the comment: “I believe they are orthopedic shoes for someone who has balance issues but, maybe, and this is a big maybe, they are muck style boots because he was going to tour the area. Have to see if he wears them again. He is old, obese, dementia addledโ€ฆ”

Running with this theory, other users were quick to bring up Trump’s posture. In many photos he can be seen slightly leaning forward despite his feet being firmly planted on the floor. Something a user couldn’t help but add: “The inability to stand up straight and revert to leaning either backwards on your heels, or forward on your toes is a sign of cognitive decline.”

Just look at this lean:

It’s just so weird:

As you’d imagine, people had a field day:
