Out of Breath Trump Tells Fox that His Powers are Near Unlimited and Him Losing Was ‘Statistically Impossible’
Trump spent his entire term as president bursting through legal limits on the presidency doing things once thought unimaginable and automatically impeachable had any president done them but especially Obama and Bush. When you pardon one of your closest friends who was involved in a court case involving you and convicted for lying about it, that is the essence of abuse of power so far beyond the norms it is explosive and represents part of the death of democracy. That’s what Putin would do. The founders said they could give the executive unlimited pardon power because there was an impeachment clause.
Presidents used to have one answer and one only about court cases or investigations, it was cliche: “I do not comment on ongoing investigations or prosecutions.” That was the answer every president used, always. Trump commented on jurors he criticized.
So it is wonderful to see a branch of government not run by Republican senators that actually will hold the president accountable to the law, just like they would do with all of us. The court system has held up. (Mostly, the SCOTUS hasn’t really been tested on that. There is likely a majority there that could be counted upon to rule correctly, and perhaps 9-0 on something really ridiculous).
Trump cannot believe the court system refuses to bow to his will. We don’t know the case he’s referencing when he’s complaining about a court not granting him “standing” to sue. “Standing” is one of the very few hard things for the general public to understand but is well-understood by attorneys who can research the law that applies directly to their case. Standing is nothing more than whether or not the person filing the suit is the correct person to file it, the one who deserves to be heard in the case in front of it. It is addressed at the very beginning of the lawsuit.
Somewhere, somehow, a court ruled in one of the multiple lawsuits that he didn’t have standing to bring the suit. He believes that as president he can bring whatever damn suit he wants to bring, damnit!
Trump: They say you don’t have standing. You mean as president of the United States, I don’t have standing. What kind of a court system is this? pic.twitter.com/JXQUhmpOZZ

This is a perfect example of lunacy:
With the coronavirus pandemic spiraling out of control in the US, Trump tells Maria Bartiromo he'll use "125 percent of my energy" to continue trying to overturn the election results pic.twitter.com/mrSF40f53e

These lies need to end:
Bartiromo's interview with Trump ends with him lying that his loss was "statistically impossible." Bartiromo responds by saying, "it's all quite extraordinary, Mr. President." pic.twitter.com/C4wTHkUeyc

And you can imagine Americans’ response:
He should’ve read the job description. Whose trying to turn our country into a communist country? Probably the guy who believes the judicial and executive branch should hold the same power. #youdontownthepeople https://t.co/RllKZUgo8p

Above, it’s not about the stupidity of the case, but that’s how he appears.
Not surprising, the guy who has no clue about how tariffs work has no idea what "standing" means. https://t.co/lE6CYjlHi9
