Trump Seeks to Oust Alabama Gov Because He’s Furious His Summer Rally Was Canceled
According to the Wall Street Journal, the latest target for Trump’s anger is Alabama governor Kay Ivey. New information suggests he is actively trying to find ways to make sure that she will not be able to retain her office come the next election. Though she has never spoken or acted against the former president, his motivation is that he is holding a grudge about a cancelled rally in Ivey’s state, even though she had no influence on that decision.
Trump is now supporting Lynda Blanchard, another Republican candidate, to replace Ivey. Until now, Blanchard was planning on running for the Senate, but Trump hopes to convince her to run for governor instead. This would also benefit him, as he has already given his support to another candidate for the open Senate seat.
The decision to cancel Trump’s July 4th rally was made by the USS Alabama Battleship Commission on the grounds that the memorial site that the rally was planned at was not suitable for partisan political events. Though Ivey has a place on that commission, it is an honorary one and she would have had no weight in the decision to cancel the rally.
In fact, Ivey has been extremely supportive of Donald Trump starting from the beginning of his first campaign, and is still a vocal Trump fan to this day. In 2018, she even signed a letter that advocated for Trump to win a Nobel Peace Prize for his diplomacy with North and South Korea.

In a statement around the same time, Ivey said, “I am thankful to the president for the conservative, smaller-government direction he is taking our nation and for his effort in ensuring that our world is a safer place.” Trump’s attacks on the governor despite her unwavering support shows that truly no one is safe from his wrath.
Trump has met with ex-Ambassador Lynda Blanchard & discussed a possible endorsement if she abandoned her Senate campaign—and instead challenged Alabama governor, Kay Ivey.
