Saturday Night Live Imagines A World Where Trump Was Never President — And It’s AMAZING

In its cold open for the last episode of the year, Saturday Night Live parodied the classic Christmas movie “It’s A Wonderful Life” with a black-and-white sketch called “It’s A Wonderful Trump.”

The cold open started with Alec Baldwin appearing as Donald Trump, wishing that he had never become president. Kenan Thompson then showed up as the fictional angel from It’s A Wonderful Life Clarence and made the wish come true.

Cast members and frequent guest stars then showed up one by one as the respective players in the Trump presidency that they each play, starting with Aidy Bryant as Sarah Huckabee Sanders. In this timeline, Sanders was a PR representative for Facebook, Ashley Madison, and “The Romaine Lettuce Association.”

Kate McKinnon also showed up as Kellyanne Conway. “After we lost the campaign, the devil did give me my soul back,” she said. Thompson as Clarence noted that in this timeline, Hillary Clinton had become president just by visiting Wisconsin once.

Eric and Donald Trump Jr., as played by Alex Moffatt and Mikey Day respectively, also appeared, significantly more intelligent in this timeline.

And Cecily Strong reprised her impression of Melania Trump, but this time she didn’t have an accent. She noted that being around Trump had hurt her language skills. Heidi Gardner played Trump’s wife in this timeline, named Hernia.

Ben Stiller then made a cameo as Michael Cohen, who is facing a prison term in the real world. In this fictional timeline, Trump’s ex-lawyer wasn’t convicted. He called Trump his best friend. “Every single thing I’ve done is because you directed me to do it, and I hope everyone knows it,” he said.

Beck Bennett also played Mike Pence, who was DJ-ing the Christmas party in the sketch, and the evening’s host Matt Damon reprised his impression of Brett Kavanaugh. In this timeline, Kavanaugh was not nominated to the Supreme Court. “Me on the Supreme Court? With my temperament? Are you insane?!” Damon’s Kavanaugh exclaimed.

Robert De Niro closed out the star-studded cold open with his impression of Robert Mueller.
