Take a Look at the ‘Huge Crowds’ Awaiting Trump When He Arrived in California

Donald Trump landed in Mountain View, California on Tuesday morning for his visit to California, and the first visit to the Bay Area as president.

Trump is in California to attend fundraisers in the Bay Area and Southern California.

The president’s campaign has not released many details about where the events will be held, but reports say he will be in the Bay Area for a luncheon before traveling to Beverly Hills Tuesday night.

Another luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday in San Diego.

He is expected to raise $15 million during his two-day swing through the Golden State.

As he walked out of Air Force One, Trump waved to his fans chanting “USA” as he descended the steps from the jet. Wearing a golden tie, Trump shook hands on the tarmac with RNC committeewoman Harmeet Dhillon, her spouse Sarvjit Randhawa, and Robin Aube-Warren, the associate director of NASA Ames Research Center before getting in his car as the motorcade sped away. He did not take questions or talk to reporters.

By mid-morning it was evident the event was at the Palo Alto hills home of Scott McNealy, the former chief executive of Sun Microsystems Inc. Before the president touched down, word spread that a significant event appeared to be underway there and protesters began to arrive on Los Trancos Road.

Kira Od, a local artist, went out at 9 a.m. Tuesday to stand across the street from the luncheon location with a poster of a drawing she made of trump with an elongated nose. Drivers passing by stopped to take photos of the banner, honking and yelling in support of her lone protest at the top of the winding road.

“Today I felt obligated to show up,” Od said. “This is in my backyard and I’d like him to know that he’s disrupting things so badly that an artist is willing to spend hundreds of hours to make protest art. This isn’t going to change the world, don’t get my wrong. But he’s so protected from criticism that I really wanted to be here so that he couldn’t avoid me and see this.”

And Trump always boasts about crowd size, so take a look at the few people who showed up to cheer Trump:

One of those supporters was Rick Carraher, who attended with his wife.

“There’s such a thrill in being here, we finally have somebody who’s doing a great job for Americans, and we wanted to show our support,” Carrier said.
