Melania Takes Credit For Designing Green Christmas Wreaths with Red Bows, ‘It’s My Signature Wreath!’
Melania Trump debuted this year’s White House Christmas decorations on social media early this month – and as expected, ridicule soon followed.
The first lady, 49, shared a video of the look on her official Twitter and Instagram accounts in early December.
This year’s display is a homage to “The Spirit of America”.
The footage begins with Melania opening one of the doors of a giant advent calendar crafted in the shape of the White House.
This isn’t the only mini White House on display – towards the end of the video, Melania adjusts tiny festive wreaths on a gingerbread White House as bakers look on.
“The Spirit of America” is shining in the @WhiteHouse! I am delighted to share this beautiful exhibit of patriotism for all to see, and excited for everyone to experience the beauty of the #Christmas season! pic.twitter.com/qGxxl9qBrd

The video also includes a nod to the first lady’s own work: a Scrabble ornament that spells out “Be Best”, a homage to her public awareness campaign, which centers around wellbeing for youth and advocates against cyberbullying and drug use. Among the Christmas tree ornaments there are also dominos and playing cards with cute animal designs on them.
The tradition of the president’s wife decorating the White House for Christmas dates back to first lady Lou Henry Hoover, who put up the the first official White House Christmas tree in 1929 – and Melania has perpetuated this tradition to a somewhat mixed reception over the years.
On Monday, Christmas Eve-Eve, the White House Twitter account posted a photo of the White House with what they described as “FLOTUS’s signature Christmas wreaths.”
Now, I don’t know about you, but green fir wreaths with red bows are pretty classic Christmas, and were NOT invented by Melania Trump. I happen to have a few decorating my house right now and I can promise you that Melania didn’t help design my Christmas decorations, lol.

Twitter had a field day:
A green wreath with a red bow hung on windows, doors and hearths is a common tradition all across the USA for decades and decades now. Looks like #Melania plagarized Christmas.

They are definitely Melanie signature wreaths —just like her first speech as flotus was hers and hers alone. 😂

Are you saying she made them herself? Or designed wreaths to have red bows? Or what? Because this is literally the most common piece of Christmas decor. I’m confused why this is new.

That’s so Melania, hanging wreaths with red bows at Christmas time. I bet red and green are her “signature” Christmas colors, too. Such a maverick.

WHAT’S NEXT? Signature green shamrocks on St. Patrick’s day? Perhaps a signature WHITE RABBIT on Easter?

Is the Einstein Visa bar that low?

@Flotus signature wreath with red bows…wow, what a novel idea. 🤭I don’t think it’s EVER been done.
