Humiliated Trump Can’t Make Statement About Russian Meddling Without Nervous Hedging

It is shocking that they put this video out, he is so obviously rejecting it and resentful.

I cannot believe they put this video out.

This simply has to be part of a deal between Republican senators and Trump; “We’ll bail your ass out on impeachment, but you better damn well say something about Russia interfering and sound all badass about them doing it again!”

Yesterday, the White House announced gravely on Twitter: Trump “has unequivocally denounced foreign interference in our elections and accepted the conclusions of our intelligence community,” complete with video that belies the entire statement.

* Do note: It is obviously a coincidence that the announcement came on the last day of House impeachment summations.

Watch Trump read the statement with such clear reluctance and disdain that he is visibly shaken. Moreover, he cannot stick to the words on the page! He must still insert his defenses.

What results is typical “Only Trump” material:

I could write an entire dissertation on all that’s wrong with this, especially considering the timing, and maybe I will – later. But for now, this tweet adequately sums up the bullshit you just witnessed:

It is nice to know that someone on Trump’s side is nervous. After all, someone made Trump do this. And then he did, sort of.
