Trump Back to Raging at FOX News Polls: FOX Polls Show Him Falling Further Behind Democrats

Trump is back to raging at FOX News’ polls that show him falling behind Democrats in the race for president. I am sensing a pattern here. Any news that Trump doesn’t like is “fake.” All news that Trump likes is very obviously true.

This is “fake.” (Work with me here, we’ve given the rules out.)

The poll shows 56 percent of respondents believe Trump will be re-elected, but he was at least 7 points behind Joe Biden, Mike Bloomberg and Bernie Sanders, 3 points behind Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg, and essentially tied with Amy Klobuchar.

Seeing as how it would appear that Amy Klobuchar is likely about to bow out of the race (not that we’re against Klobuchar, or any other Democrat), it would appear that every viable Democrat is ahead of Trump by three points, and the leaders are ahead by seven.

The polls have likely not absorbed the full news from the virus and Trump’s anemic response to it, full of lies and panic from all directions, blaming Democrats. The polls also likely haven’t absorbed the fact that Trump is going to be in South Carolina tonight, instead of Washington managing the situation with respect to both the virus and the economy. Perhaps that is why he’s so angry, he believes he can’t do anything about either one.

No, he’s angry because Fox keeps reporting “fake” stuff:

“Worst Polls, just like in 2016 when they were so far off the mark, are the @FoxNews Polls,” Trump griped at his preferred cable news network. “Why doesn’t Fox finally get a competent Polling Company?”

Because you would likely be down even more?

Actually, the polls were right on the mark in 2016. The polls showed Hillary up 2-3 points going into election day, and she won the popular vote by 2 points. Trump had to thread a needle in three states with 70,000 votes putting him over the top.

Thus it is that polls are actually pretty accurate (look at the 2018 blue wave). I suppose that is why Trump screams that they’re fake. They’re real.

And they haven’t even fully absorbed the bad news. These polls reflect where people stood early in the week. Polls are dynamic as big shifts in the news make big changes in polls. If one were to take a poll tomorrow, I suspect those numbers would be down further.

After all, the Dow is done another 950 points right now. If you took a poll on Wall Street right now, it would likely be quite negative. That matters, since Wall Street seems to have disproportionate control over who wins.
