Critic Says Virus Delivers Trump’s Biggest Fear: Not Sick Citizens, Not a Sick Economy — It’s Exposing Him as a Sick Fraud
Gary Kasparov is smart and observant. He can anticipate an opponent’s moves and predicament. He summarized Donald Trump’s current problems as president. Kasparov notes that Trump’s biggest fear isn’t that people will be dying on his watch, it is not the economy plummeting into recession or depression, it is not even his reelection that scares him the most. No, deep down, Trump’s most intense fear encompasses all the above on a personal level. Trump is deathly afraid.
I've seen weakness and fear in many eyes in my day, and Trump looks confused and afraid. All he needed to do was act stable and confident for a few minutes and he failed. Let's hope some around him have the courage to step up.

There is nowhere for Trump to run. He cannot hide behind executive privilege. He cannot sue to have his taxes hidden away, nor his response to the disaster. He has tried to suppress the numbers, both in tests and reporting diseases. He cannot declare bankruptcy. He can try to blame “foreign viruses” for getting here and interrupting everything, he can try, he can try, he can try.
And yet the history will record it all accurately, all the blunders, all the incoherence, all the disinformation, and yes, the death tolls, along with the economy now headed directly into a recession. The first real challenge of his presidency not of his own making will expose him as the fraud he’s always been. This is his biggest fear, in some ways it is his ONLY fear:
Trump is afraid not because Americans will die, or because the economy is tanking, but because he's accountable at last, exposed as the fraud he's been his entire life.

He is inept, he is uneducated, he doesn’t “understand this stuff,” he will usher in a recession of the likes that this country hasn’t seen since 2008, ideally it won’t be worse. Trump is naked, sitting atop a throne of power and has been exposed as someone unfit for the job. Even some of the MAGA heads are seeing it now.
Yes, some MAGA heads are still busy making excuses. It is very early. They haven’t missed a paycheck or seen their 401K drop 40%. Never mind the fact that they are likely to get sick, perhaps lose a loved one, perhaps lose themselves.
But Donald Trump is exposed, the carnival barker who has always been full of shit, selling (literally selling) a bill of goods that are cheaply made, don’t work, expensive, and don’t last. That’s who he is, having it revealed to the world constitutes the sum of all his fears.
52 GOP Senators left this feeble, selfish creature in charge of the country. What do they say now? The Fox News hosts mocking the doctors' warnings? They have a chance now to fight the crisis with the truth or to kill with lies.

Yes, now it is on all of them, too. They had a chance to explore the depth of the man’s fraudulent conduct, and took a pass, just six weeks prior, they had an opportunity for significant change.
I am not sure that Trump will make it to November 2020. So many events have been canceled, we now have to wonder if Trump will cancel himself, as part of the collateral damage.
Oh, and MAGA heads will be the last to know – they, too, will blame anyone else:
These attacks on @realDonaldTrump during this #coronavirus crises are as UnAmerican and unpatriotic as it gets. Shame on all of you. #TrumpDerangementSyndrome pic.twitter.com/4WOe2g68Cm
