Donald Trump Was Reportedly ‘Frightened’ To Face Melania After Infamous Access Hollywood Tape Went Public

News has come out that Donald Trump isn’t just scared of angry protesters, and tanking poll numbers. Apparently he’s also afraid of Melania, according to an explosive new book about the First Lady. After the shocking Access Hollywood tape was leaked in the run-up to the 2016 Presidential Election it took him two hours to work up the courage to speak to her, The Art of Her Deal, the book by Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan reveals.

CBS News has published an excerpt from the book, Business Insider reports. The video showcases some serious fallout as Trump was first shown the old footage of his lewd comments to former program host Billy Bush, including his infamous “grab ’em by the pussy” comment.

The footage was viewed by Trump, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and then-campaign press secretary Hope Hicks on the 25th Floor of Trump Tower, Jordan writes.

Melania, who was married to Trump at the time of the video, “was the elephant not in the room,” Christie reportedly said.

The 2005 tape was published by The Washington Post in the month before the 2016 election, and according to Jordan’s book, everyone in the room became stony silent, and Trump was apparently mortified.

“He turned red; red was coming up his neck to his ears,” said one unnamed person who was in the room when this happened. “I think he understood early on that it was going to create ramifications for him at home, too.”

Those ramifications included Trump waiting a full two hours to talk to his wife.

“Everybody was saying, ‘You should go upstairs and see Melania,” Christie told Jordan. “Why don’t you go upstairs now and see Melania?’ And he was not rushing to go up there.”

He added:

“I said to him, ‘It ain’t going to get any easier. The longer you wait, it’s not going to get any easier.'”

Another unnamed source told Jordan “That night he seemed frightened to go face his wife.”

But when Trump finally got the gumption to take the elevator two hours later and talk to his wife upstairs, Melania took things calmly, Jordan writes. Melania Trump firmly believed her husband could win but was worried that the leaked tape would ruin his chances.

And ten days after the leak, on October 17, 2016, she fiercely defended her husband while being interviewed by CNN’s Anderson Cooper and referred to Trump’s comments as “boy talk” that he had been pressured to engage in. She also told Cooper she had accepted his apology.

Also in the book? Jordan refers to Melania’s 2017 refusal to move into the White House as an attempt to renegotiate her prenuptial agreement and the tension between her and Trump’s daughter Ivanka.

So Donald Trump is an even bigger coward than we imagined and Melania is little more than a glorified carpetbagger. She wasn’t angry about his boasts that he slept with other women, she was only worried he was going to lose.
