Trump’s Lawyer Says the Only Way We Can Get Equality in America is With Christianity

Jenna Ellis, a lawyer for the Trump campaign and a fellow at Liberty University’s Falkirk Center, has made some particularly hairy-scary statements over the past week, asserting that the Progressive Left is a “domestically grown” enemy seeking to destroy society.

But she didn’t stop there. In two podcasts last week, she made the case that civil society must be grounded in the “object” truth of the Bible and in Christian definitions of justice, morality, and family, Right Wing Watch reports. Then she took the opportunity to paint the progressive left as a “domestically grown enemy” that has set out to destroy “ordered society” and “create chaos.”

I suppose one can look at it like this: Trump crony Ben Carson is a neurosurgeon, but that doesn’t necessarily make him smart. And while Ellis is an attorney, the same can be said for her.

And Ellis’s ignorance was on full display Friday in an interview with CBN’s David Brody, which she used as a platform for fear-mongering by claiming “progressives are trying to fundamentally transform America into a post-modern culture that denies the objective truth, that denies that there’s any morality, and certainly that denies God.”

At one point Brody asked Ellis about the “utopia” “Antifa and the folks behind it want.” She responded by talking about “The Communist Manifesto,” asserting that “their ultimate utopia and goal is the fundamental transformation of society to end up in a totalitarian and communist-socialist regime.”

She followed up with a weird example, portraying COVID-19 related public health restrictions implemented by Democratic governors as evidence of a totalitarian worldview.

“And so they want to break down all of the institutions and the pillars of a morally upright law and order civil society to have absolute chaos,” she said. “And so this is the ultimate goal of reality for them, is the complete reliance on a communist government that is absolutely not founded on any sort of moral virtue. And so, when you look at these riots and when you look at even the Democrat-led cities and governors that have imposed these tyrannical orders, it’s remarkable to me that we’re seeing in these cities, examples of tyranny and anarchy simultaneously. And this is leading to the ultimate end that they want to perpetuate, which is the complete breakdown of a legitimate society.”

Poor thing. Ellis is so delusional that she fails to recognize the Trump administration is doing a bang-up job of destabilizing society and imposing tyrannical totalitarianism.

Brody also asked Ellis about the persistence of racism and police brutality, something that God considers evil, he added. That led her to question if systemic racism really exists in the U.S.

“Absolutely. And you know, the question really is, you know, as Joe Biden articulated, you know, ‘We have to combat a systemic racism in America.’ Well,” she said, “that presumes that we have systemic racism.”

Things got really weird then, with Ellis connecting the dots between the police custody death of George Floyd and abortion (remember, this is Trump’s world and we, unfortunately, live in it).

“I share their outrage at what happened to George Floyd, what happens when there are instances of brutality based on race,” she said. “That’s the same thing as sexism. It’s the same thing as ageism—you know, as treating the unborn child as not valuable in dignity and worth as a human being.”

For her, Christianity is the only way for people to be truly equal.

“The truth of all this is that the Christian worldview is the only explanation that gets us to genuine equality, which is the fact that all humans, regardless of race, gender, age, any of our immutable characteristics, all of us are human beings made in the image of God and as such, have inherent dignity, value, and worth.”

Apparently forgetting about the Crusades and other nasty episodes of Christian intolerance, Ellis noted:

“We will never genuinely combat racism or any of these constructs in society unless we get to the root of the worldview, which is to make sure that we are approaching this with truth, with Biblical truth, and not with all of these false ideologies.”

I think of myself as rather jaded these days and immune to being shocked, but this woman is with the Trump campaign, and if you’re not worried about this, well, I don’t know what to tell you.
