Trump is Stoking Racial Tensions on Twitter With Disgusting ‘Low-Income’ Tweet, ‘This is Simply Despicable!’

For reasons known only to Trump and Joni Ernst, Trump held a telerally last night on Facebook for Iowans. As we have previously reported, Trump’s campaign advisers must have convinced him that he needs to win over suburban women.

Trump got off to a flying start earlier in the week with his “Suburban Housewives” tweet. But with respect to very white Iowa, Trump tried to get through to suburban moms with some old-fashioned, very blatant, racism. Then he followed up what he said last night with a horrifically racist tweet as he rode AF-One to Midland Texas today. But it won’t make much sense without the backstory:

He tried to scare Iowa suburban women by saying that Cory Booker was bringing black people into their neighborhoods with their beautiful homes, from Rawstory:

“They don’t mind if low-income housing is built in a neighborhood, in a beautiful suburb of Iowa, but a beautiful suburb anywhere in the country. They want low – and this has been going on for years, Obama made it much worse, and now they want Cory Booker to run that program, Cory Booker of New Jersey, to run that program and make it many times worse than it is right now.

“People have gone to the suburbs, they want the beautiful homes, they don’t have to have a low-income housing development built in their community, which is going to reduce, which has reduced the prices of their homes, and also increased crime substantially.”

Urban housing is going to be made “many times worse than it is right now?” And of course, in Trump’s mind, people have gone to the suburbs precisely because they can have these beautiful homes and now they’re going to bring the “urbans” to the suburbs! Your home prices will go down and crime will go up.

Then he followed the “telerally” up with this tweet just today:

This won’t get quite as much press as “Good people on both sides” stuff. But the above is just about as racist. Sitting there telling people that Cory Booker is going to run a program that brings black people out to your beautiful home, increasing crime is as bad as anything we can think of.

And why does he assume the suburbs are all white anyway? What about the black orthodontist? The Hispanic attorney? The Asian high tech engineer? The Indian general surgeon? Yet Trump assumes the suburbs are all “white.”

Sigh.
