Did the White House Edit Trump Coughing From His Hospital Video? People on Twitter Think They Have Proof
People on Twitter think they have found something very suspect about Donald Trump’s recent video address from Walter Reed, claiming the clip may have been edited to remove a cough.
Trump shared a video message from the hospital, reassuring people that he and wife Melania are “doing well” after testing positive for coronavirus. Trump made sure to mention that Melania is “a few years younger” than he is, so she is fairing better. Trump always needs to remind you he has a young, hot wife, even when sick.
Around a minute into the video, Trump appears to suddenly convulse, his shoulders jolting as his lips pucker randomly. It’s obviously a cough. We’ve all done it. We’re human, as is Trump, despite what his rabid followers want to believe.
People on Twitter believe the footage may have been edited with Adobe Premiere, which is the Photoshop for video, using a tool that is often used to remove unwanted stutters or pauses while smoothing out the cut to ensure the clip isn’t disrupted.
In the video, filmed in Trump’s suite at the Walter Reed Medical Center, the president said he thought he would be back to work “soon”.

He said: “I came here, wasn’t feeling so well, I feel much better now. We’re working hard to get me all the way back. Over the next period of a few days, I guess that’s the real test. We’ll be seeing what happens over those next couple of days.”
Discussing his presidential election campaign, Trump continued: “I’ll be back, I think I’ll be back soon, and I look forward to finishing up the campaign the way it was started and the way we’ve been doing and the kind of numbers that we’ve been doing.”
Now, take a look at the video:

See that stutter? And you can’t deny that’s a cough.
Twitter had a field day:
Bizarre strategy to release a long video of trumps laboured breathing and clearly edit out the coughs suing Adobe morph tool. pic.twitter.com/ZgAT13vf5d

Right after #Trump says the word “therapeutics” there is an obvious edit, they definitely made a splice, a cut right there in the audio and video. @realDonaldTrump coughed and it was edited out. The audio and video was pulled up to remove his cough.

There’s a terrible edit after Trump says “therapeutics”. Most likely had to cough. One or two less odvious edits as well. Geez, this WH can’t do much right. https://t.co/k46DvorJE9

But wait, there’s more.
On Saturday night, the White House released two photos that purport to show Trump hard at work. Here they are:
As has been reported repeatedly, Trump appears to be signing a blank piece of paper in those photos:
Furthermore, those two photos were taken just ten minutes apart. So Trump’s aides just gave him busy work as you would with a toddler, took some photos, then moved all the same paperwork and folders to a different desk and took more photos. Literally a photoshoot. And Trump is wearing cufflinks. Who wears cufflinks at the hospital?
Twitter user JRehling pointed this out, the same folders and papers just rearranged. Obviously, the people in the White House think we’re idiots.
The staged photos of Trump "working" with a Sharpie are taken in two different rooms but it's the exact same objects on the two tables, rearranged differently.
All they do is lie and they're still so bad at it. pic.twitter.com/PPbPyhFYD5

But if you listen to Trump’s kids, Trump is the toughest president to ever live, and he’s RELENTLESS!!!
Nothing can stop him from working for the American people. RELENTLESS! 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/2ZSat782qe

If only all elected officials had this work ethic. @realDonaldTrump is a true warrior. I have admired this unrelenting drive my entire life. pic.twitter.com/oCwwjrUSJ2

Day two into it and he’s working hard and looking great. That’s our President. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/CrXesQXF3K

Journalist Gary Legum sums it up perfectly:
It's just so fucking insulting, to blatantly lie like this and never suffer consequences. He's not working. We all know he's not working. For once, it would be fine if he wasn't since he has a serious illness and should rest. Get out of here with this crap. https://t.co/QEzpVS7YZ6
