Fox News is VERY Upset with AOC’s Expensive Suit — But Fine with Melania’s $52K Jacket
Let’s get this out of the way really quickly. Men rarely ever pay a price for wearing some damned expensive stuff. There is a double standard going on here a bit, where a tailored suit from Milan can cost close to $10,000 and that’s just the suit, never mind all the accessories, including $2000 shoes. So, men do their own conspicuous spending.
But since society deems it especially important that women “look” good, and because society knows that very wealthy women will spend more to “look good” than even men, some women’s outfits can get out of control in expense.
Fox News was appalled when AOC wore $14,000 in clothes for a Vanity Fair cover. Well, it is a Vanity Fair cover and those usually aren’t jeans and sweatshirt types of occasions (though, with her, why not?). And, if we’re honest, we would say that given her message and priorities, she might not have made the right choice there. Regardless it isn’t that big a deal and probably still falls in the bottom 25% of the cost of the average outfit worn on the cover of Vanity Fair.
But Fox News had no problem at all when Melania Trump arrived at a G-7 meeting in Italy in a jacket that cost $50,000. WE certainly have a problem when one believes that she (or he) is entitled to a jacket that could send three kids to a state college for a year, or two-thirds a cops’ salary for an entire year. But, we guess that given it was Melania, and Melania has always been about being a high-priced fashion model, she doesn’t deserve any criticism.

Again, maybe not AOC’s best choice – but we made a lot of bad choices at that age (much worse), but the hypocrisy with Melania, who was just going to a meeting! is ridiculous. Twitter had some fun:
Also, she didn't keep the clothes Vanity Fair gave her for the shoot. They were basically costumes.

We can’t confirm if that’s true. But even if it is, it doesn’t change the message it sends.
You have this (not paid for $3900 boots, they’re sold out because it’s Michelle) pic.twitter.com/QpPOCFghSo

Well, we all have our weaknesses. Michelle has also been known to get dirty in doing some real work for people, too.
Regardless, the Fox News hypocrisy is the story here. Everyone expects Melania to wear a $50,000 jacket. Even the guy posting about Michelle’s boots can’t quite do enough math to figure out that Michelle’s boots cost about 8% of Melania’s jacket.
Anyway, nice job, Fox.
