Election 2020

Trump Sparks Furious Backlash From Martin Luther King Jr.’s Daughter for ‘Beyond Insulting’ Ad

As Election Day draws closer, President Donald Trump is trying to appeal to Black voters after spending his entire presidency fomenting racial strife and setting race-relations back to pre-1950s tensions. This is not lost on prominent Black leaders like Bernice King, who is CEO of Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, and the daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Trump has been using her father’s image in a campaign ad and King is calling out his hypocrisy by tweeting a screenshot of the video ad, which is titled “We Will Never Surrender America” and subtitled “Don’t Bet Against Us,” The Hill reports.

“I find President Trump’s use of my father’s image in his political ad beyond insulting and not reflective of #MLK’s commitment to creating the #BelovedCommunity,” she wrote. “My father should not be used in ways strongly misaligned with his vision and values, @realDonaldTrump.”

“My father was working for an America with leaders who have answered the call to conscience and compassionate action,” King added in her tweets. “He said, ‘We need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity but in love with humanity…'”

“Leaders who can subject their particular egos to the pressing urgencies of the great cause of freedom…a time like this demands great leaders. America needs this type of leader NOW.”

But Trump is not “compassionate.” The only thing he really loves is himself and for him “publicity” fuels that so that he receives as much attention as possible. And he doesn’t care who he uses or who he hurts in order to accomplish this. He is a dangerously egomaniacal man who is unfit to be president.

I really can’t say that last sentence enough times.

And the Trump campaign “is what it is” (to quote Trump) and doesn’t stop there. They have also dropped an ad featuring Jackie Robinson, one of the most legendary baseball players of all time, and his daughter, children’s book author Sharon Robinson doesn’t want her late father to be associated in any way with Trump.

“The Trump campaign is in opposition to all that Jackie Robinson stood for and believed in,” she wrote in a tweet. “We’re insulted and demand that his image be removed.”

The Hill notes that Trump is trailing Joe Biden in the polls, but if you remember, Hillary Clinton was also well ahead of him in most 2016 polls and we all know what happened and are suffering for it.

I don’t have to spell it out. You know what to do.
