Trump’s Now Willing to Consider Peaceful Transition of Power Under ‘Some Conditions’

This is downright offensive.

Joe Biden is giving his victory speech as we write and publish this article. In accord with the constitution, he waited until there was a sufficient count of the vote to allow every major media organization, including Fox, to project his victory. Right now, every news network is referring to him as President-Elect of the United States of America.

It is in this environment that Donald Trump is considering making a “deal” with Joe Biden. Trump says he will peacefully agree to a transition of power, IF his legal challenges – which have shown no promise, never mind an issue that is worth pursuing – all fail, and only then will he consider a peaceful transition of power. He is acting as if he has some cards to play here, which – we suppose in his mind, he still believes – like calling out the military and refusing to leave. He may believe he has the right to refuse to recognize the election and simply “stay” because it was “rigged,” or stay because the people before him “committed treason.”

But Trump is weighing his decision, depending on how his legal options go, according to Mediaite:

The report reads, “Sources close to President Trump told FOX News he plans to graciously concede and commit to a peaceful transfer of power, if the campaign’s legal challenges fail to open up a path for a second term.”

Trump is, as of this post, not even close to conceding, again alleging voter fraud and insistently saying and tweeting unfounded statements like claiming he won with “legal votes.”

The Fox News report got attention on social media for the idea that Trump doing the right thing would be conditional:

Please note that he doesn’t confine those to court challenges, he only says “legal,” and we have warned and warned that he may well approach state legislatures and courts to invalidate state elections. State legislatures decide who to send to the E.C. He only says “legal challenges,” not just lawsuits or court challenges. Yes, we are parsing words, but they could be important words.

Regardless, this is not a popular statement on Twitter:

If and when he has absolutely nothing left, we mean nothing at all, we think this is a sure thing. He will step down and have Pence pardon him – not risk a self-pardon that is invalidated. Plus, he wouldn’t be as missed at the inauguration which he is not attending anyway.

So he leaves as he came in. A complete asshole, from beginning to end, never wavered. It was always about him, and he’ll leave making it about him – he thinks.
