There have been all sorts of rumors that Ivanka Trump may have political aspirations of her own and they’ve picked up a notch or two after the First Daughter sent out a tweet Monday that celebrated the anniversary of Iowa’s statehood. Using a heart emoji and an exclamation point to say she loves the state, Trump retweeted Republican Governor Kim Reynold’s post celebrating the day Iowa officially became a state.

“On this day in 1846, President James K. Polk signed a bill making Iowa the 29th state in the Union,” Reynolds tweeted. “Happy Statehood Day to the great state of Iowa and to all who proudly call her home.”

Trump, whose followers number 10.3 million on Twitter, garnered just under 12,000 likes and 1.6 thousand retweets as of Wednesday, which is a larger response than her tweets usually gather, on average, TheDailyMail reports.

And in politics, Iowa is the name of the game. It’s the first caucus state and it carries a lot of water in primary contests. The Hawkeye State has played a key part both in terms of primaries and in launching presidential hopefuls. Of course, along with all the speculation about Ivanka Trump’s political leanings, there are also rumors that dear old dad may run in 2024. Daughter dearest campaigned for dad in a two-day stint right before the election and it’s one of the few states where Trump actually won, by some eight percent over Biden.

Ivanka Trump also visited the state in 2018 to campaign for Reynolds, so it seems she may wield some influence in the state, which traditionally leans red.

During a campaign stop in New Hampshire in August, the president took the opportunity to diss Vice-president elect Kamala Harris, claiming she doesn’t have what it takes to be the first female president and insisted people would prefer Ivanka for the job.

“They’re all saying, ‘We want Ivanka!'” Trump said at one rally. “I don’t blame them.”

Of course, he never mentions who this mythical “they” is. Yes, I’m sure Trump supporters are all in the bag for Ivanka, but they are likely the only ones. I’m pretty sure dear old dad has soured most Americans on the Trump name. I’m merely hoping people will continue to remember this, but I could be wrong. I hope I’m not.

A recent report has revealed aides believe President Donald Trump may plan a final trip on Air Force One and a rally on January 20th to coincide with President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration. There’s speculation that Trump will use this to announce his 2024 plans.

The situation for Biden’s swearing-in has been in a state of flux as his team continues to implement restrictions to lessen the impact of the pandemic, including limiting crowd size and canceling other traditional but non-essential inauguration events.
