Trump is Headed to Mar-a-Lago the Week Before Christmas … And Might Never Return to DC

President Donald Trump has maintained a semi-hermit-like existence at the White House over the past couple of weeks and it’s now being reported that he may spend the remaining weeks of his presidency at his Palm Beach resort Mar-a-Lago. And of course, he’s been talking about skipping Biden’s inauguration and holding a rally at the same time in Florida, but according to The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman, he may depart sooner than that, Raw Story reports.

“The President, who hasn’t left the White House extensively other than his rally over the weekend, is currently planning to go to West Palm Beach the week before Christmas, ppl briefed on the plans say,” she wrote.

“Some of his associates believe he may spend the remaining five weeks of the first term in Fla; others say that wasn’t discussed but isn’t likely,” she added.

“First term?” What the hey? He’s only serving one term. I think it’s likely she just goofed but the tweet is jarring. After all, Trump continues to deny that he’s lost the election, and state and local officials have said repeatedly that there is no evidence of voter fraud. And Trump’s own legal team hasn’t been able to provide credible evidence to the contrary in court. Haberman is more than aware of this, but perhaps was trying to do too many things at once.

Whatever the case, she received a Twitter upbraiding.

But Haberman’s original tweet has been deleted and she’s followed it up with an “edited” version.

Haberman, a well-respected journalist who knows just about everything there is to know about Trump, recently inked a book deal that she says will focus on Trump “from NYC to the presidency,” The Hill reported. She’s been covering Trump for the Times since 2015 and has won a Pulitzer Prize for her work. Undoubtedly the book will be telling but I have to wonder how well it will do because people are so sick of Trump by now that I would think the only ones likely to read it would be his supporters. Most of whom aren’t likely bright enough to read it.
