Trump Planning Huge New Year’s Eve Bash at Mar-a-Lago Amid Surging COVID-19 Cases at $1K a Pop

Florida has surpassed 1,300,000 coronavirus cases and that has resulted in more than 21,000 deaths, and there are no indications that the situation is going to get better any time soon as the Florida Department of Health reported 13,871 Wednesday, WFLA reports.

But this bad news isn’t going to stop President Donald Trump from hosting a fancy $1,000 a plate New Year’s Eve gala at his Palm Beach club Mar-a-Lago, TheDailyMail reports. But then Trump is allergic to human decency, so really how is this even surprising?

Hundreds of people will be attending and it’s anyone’s guess if any of these fools will be wearing masks or practicing social distancing. December is reported to have been the deadliest month so far and the CDC is cautioning people to celebrate in their own homes. Which is exactly what normal, sane people would do. But Trump and his sycophantic followers aren’t sane.

To attend this shindig you have to already be a member of this over-hyped club or be invited by some other rich fool who is.

Coronavirus has infected more than 19.6 million Americans and killed nearly 340,000, and the death rate currently stands at roughly 3,000 people per day. Sounds like a perfect time to hold a glitzy event in a ritzy town where almost no one wears masks. Few restaurants or bars here mandate the wearing of masks and these establishments are generally packed with people. And at a street fair last weekend, protesters yelled reminders that officials can’t force people to wear masks.

While it’s not clear how many people will attend this event, CNN is reporting 500 people have reserved tickets, and during most years hundreds attend. The main ballroom can hold up to 700 people and there are also smaller ballrooms that can accommodate additional numbers of people.

Earlier this month, the conservative student group Turning Point USA also held a jam-packed event inside Mar-a-Lago, and few, if any masks were seen.

So it sounds like Floridians can expect additional coronavirus cases, meaning the price tag for this New Year’s event will cost more than just dollars. It may very well cost people’s health and lives.

UPDATE: It turns out Trump is returning to the White House on New Year’s Eve, so Trump won’t even be attending the party. Still, he’ll be benefitting from the $1,000 tickets though!
