Trump Reportedly in a Horrible Place, ‘Shattered,’ ‘Humiliated,’ ‘Embarrassed,’ ‘His Whole World Upended’

We have already reported on two different reasons why Trump might have flown back early. Maybe to give his speech and maybe to wag the dog a little. There are some expectations that things with Iran will get problematic on the one year anniversary of the bombing. We figured that it had to be something semi-important because he loves his Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve party. Both of the above could still have played a role in him coming back to Washington, but ultimately, the biggest reason is very simple.

He is humiliated.

People paid $1,000 per ticket with the expectation that the President of the United States would be there, which – for anyone – would up the price a bit. Even those of us who loathe him would probably love a chance to loathe him up close, or laugh at the pathetic sucking-up. These people will have a legitimate case that they should get half their money back. There is only so much one can charge a person for good wine, appetizers, crab, and prime rib. It is not worth $1000 without “their” president there. Maybe if Springsteen was playing acoustic with Elton John on the piano they’d get their $1000.

But Trump simply couldn’t face them, so he did something more embarrassing. He ran. According to an interview on CNN, transcript courtesy of Rawstory:

Yeah,” Henderson replied. “I mean, he is in his feelings about this. He is feeling incredibly embarrassed and humiliated, so he has created this alternative world where the Republicans can go to bat for him on January 6th and, by some miracle, overturn the will of the voters and reinstall him in the White House.”

He watches TV all day! Did he not see all those polls saying that he was down, that he was in trouble? Did he not have six months to prepare himself for this possibility? It almost makes one wonder if he expected “someone” to place their hand on the scale for him and win anyway. Maybe (we have no facts) someone did and just didn’t do enough. Trump overperformed the polls, by quite a bit. And does he really think there is still a chance that Republicans could or would actually “overturn” the election on the sixth?

He is obviously full of shame at this point that he lost this election, he can’t even face his folks down in Mar-a-Lago at this party, he came back to D.C. because that is how bad he feels about this loss.”

Every presidential candidate that loses is depressed for a while. We suspect none are humiliated. The only type that would be “embarrassed” are those who think that they’re entitled to win and any loss means his existence now is one of a “loser.” For the rest of his life, he will tell everyone that he won that election but it was rigged. He’ll believe it. He has to.

But now we get down to the nitty gritty:

I imagine his world has just shattered in some ways,” she continued. “All of the trappings that he has come to love about being president, this platform, being on the news all the time, every tweet people read and pay attention to, people around him treating him like the most powerful man in the world — that is soon to disappear from this president’s life. And I imagine even being at Mar-a-Lago where he has these followers and people who look up to him and want to be around him, he couldn’t even face them at the end, at this party so he flew back to Washington.

Everyone always said that he didn’t like the “job” of being president. He wasn’t “doing” anything to make America great. He signed a bunch of stuff placed in front of him and a few roundtables. That was “the job.” He loved the other stuff, all that cool shit that goes on with being the president. If one has ever seen the helicopter coming in over the streets and land on the White House lawn, it is kind of amazing that someone is that much cooler than you, until Trump, at least.

But Trump is uniquely susceptible to sustaining a devastating narcissistic “injury.” He best get used to being “holed” up. We suspect that the only types of things at which he’ll show up in the next year or two are “rallies” built specifically for him to be the center of attention.

That’s it. That’s his life, that and golf, and trying to make more money, that is.
