Ex-Trump Friend: Trump is Only ‘Running’ in 2024 to ‘Make Money Off of These Rubes’

There is a real temptation to think of Anthony Scaramucci as some cartoon character. He is stupid, a hustler, someone who cons people on the street playing dice and couldn’t last eleven days as White House communications director without getting himself fired for some tirade over the phone with a reporter. Mooch is a different kind of guy, but he is not at all stupid. He rose up through Goldman Sachs as a very successful trader-banker and if making money at that level was easy, everyone would be doing it. He also knows Donald Trump very well.

He knows what Trump is doing and why. We are not surprised by his summation because we’ve written the same thing here for the last six weeks. From Rawstory:

“I think he’s going to run in 2024, this is the most money he’s ever made — just imagine making $300 million off of these rubes that he’s coning after the election with his big lie. So he’ll run again in 2024.

“Will he go to the finish line? Maybe not,” he continued. “There are 10 or 12 Republicans that see themselves as a future president. They’re going to try to find ways to undermine him, obviously, Governor Nikki Haley already started that process, so I don’t know if he gets to the finish line, but why would he not run and raise money off the rubes that he’s raising money from?”

As we’ve said, whether he plans on running or not, he most certainly has to act like he’s running and that would include pushing aside other candidates so that he’s out front. Right now, it’s all relatively stable in the MAGA area the world. But just wait until Josh Hawley’s presidential aspirations run up against an old man that is slipping a bit. Hawley can promise “All the MAGA, more Mind.” That is very close to worst case scenario. The MAGAs expect a fascist, Hawley knows how to deliver it.

Mooch addressed whether Trump would go all the way:

I think it could get interrupted by the potential criminal investigations that are going on and the potential indictments, so if he runs and there are no indictments and I think he has a clear path to that nomination, and that’s why Sen. McConnell said ‘Of course I’m going to support him’ — which is even more levels of hypocrisy, but yes, he runs, he wins the nomination. There is risk here, though, because of his potential tax fraud case and other cases — even the D.C. case related to the insurrection is a potential speed bump to him getting that nomination.”

One has to hope that the MAGA movement gets destroyed over the next four years, ideally due to their inability to maintain the fevered frenzy, the energy. But if Josh Hawley steps in for Trump, we are no better off at all, perhaps even worse, because Hawley has seen what they want and he knows how to give it to them.
