Steve Mnuchin’s Wife Says She’s Been Villainized and Sent a Box of Horse Sh*t Due to Her Association with Trump

Someone who’s apparently not a fan of Donald Trump sent Steve Mnuchin and his wife Louise Linton a parcel of horse manure while he was still the Treasury Secretary, The Daily Mail reports. Linton discussed the incident and several controversies that led folks on the internet to label her “Treasury Barbie,” “Marie Antoinette,” and “The Real Housewife of The Treasury.”

I always appreciate it when anybody flames Trump or his supporters, and the horse manure incident kind of misfired, I give the sender credit for ingenuity, anyway. It seems that someone decided to ask the Scottish actress if they were indeed, sent a package of horse manure at Christmas, and she described the situation as more or less a near miss.

“They accidentally dropped it off at our neighbor’s house,” she said. “And we were traveling at the time, so we never even got a whiff of it. I guess they didn’t like Steven’s tax bill.”

Then it was time to talk about the other fun stuff. Like the time the couple flew to Fort Knox in Kentucky as part of Mnuchin’s work, taking a United States Air Force Jet.

Linton, 40 later posted a photo on Instagram that showed her and Mnuchin stepping off the Executive plane, and added the caption “Great #daytrip to #Kentucky! #nicest #people #beautiful #countryside.

Folks on the internet had opinions on that and awarded Linton with the “Treasury Barbie,” etc. phrases above.

That put her in a bit of a bad mood and fired back “Have you given more to the economy than me and my husband? Either as an individual earner in taxes or in self-sacrifice for your country?”

“I’m pretty sure we paid more taxes toward our day ‘trip’ than you did,” she added. “Pretty sure the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you’d be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours. You’re adorably out of touch.”

This from someone who gets to travel around via the United States Air Force, whose husband is not only Treasury Secretary, but also a Hollywood producer and a multimillionaire. She later admitted the photo was “stupid.”

And of course, she apologized, in a statement through her publicist:

“I apologize for my post on social media yesterday as well as my response. It was inappropriate and highly insensitive.”

Then she turned right around and was “inappropriate and highly insensitive” all over again — a few short months later. This time she was photographed posing at the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, where she held up a stack of newly printed dollar bills. These were the first to feature Mnuchin’s signature.

She wore a black leather outfit, including elbow-length black gloves, and people on the internet couldn’t help but compare her to Cruella de Vil, Darth Vader, and Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? And The Washington Post described the photo as “exceptionally obnoxious.”

I’m just going to sum things up by saying The Post wasn’t wrong. It’s one thing to apologize for throwing your wealth in people’s faces, but then to turn right around and do it again? C’mon.

Alas, Linton is pleased Mnuchin is now out of politics so she can get back to her, ahem, Hollywood career.

“Fortunately, he’s not in politics anymore, and I’m happy to have my husband home in Los Angeles with me,” she told Fox News. “I think because of my association with that administration, people have this preconceived notion about me or I’ve been villainized.”

Linton added, “I’m not involved in any politics and I’m very liberal.”
