Meghan McCain Outdoes Herself With the Most Ridiculous Tweet About NEPOTISM and Twitter is Going Crazy
There are men, women, and kids, who have been borne into wealth and privilege for whom one can feel some (“some”) amount of sympathy. Now, obviously, everyone sensible reserves almost all sympathy for those people born into poverty without any opportunity whatsoever, people who never chose to be born into destitution and pain. But there is a sliver of care for those people on the opposite spectrum, who are truly and sincerely committed to making it on their own and yet cannot escape society’s suspicion that their last name opened every door.
This is a select group, a tiny minority. Most people, including perhaps some of us, would take advantage of opportunities given to us through our birth. It takes a special type of person to truly declare independence and set about on their own.
Meghan McCain is not in the first group, that one that would turn down anything based upon her last name and prove to herself and the world that she had what it took to rise up through… whatever career she might have chosen. Instead, like many of us might have, she jumped at the opportunity to grab a spot on a television show worth one million a year (and that’s nothing compared to her family money, but more than we make). Okay, many would do so.
But most of us would not start whining within the first two to three years that the audience must now respect that she’s held that job down for three years, through her hard work and forget that her name got her the opportunity, to begin with. Perhaps there might come a day when Meghan might be able to make such a claim, but then we’re talking about double-digit years. To make this statement, this early, did nothing but get the entire net thrown at her. Listen to this whine:
My dad died almost 3 years ago. I've been in this industry since I was 22 – at what point do I get any agency over my life and my work? Or are you convinced my Dad is influencing people from the afterlife on my behalf?
My last name got me in the door, my work ethic kept me here. https://t.co/tnUSfoiSwU

No, Meghan. The statement is: “I am lucky to have had an opportunity to get a start, in large part through my family’s name, and I hope to earn my spot daily in gratitude.” That’s the statement. That’s it. Stop crying and stop boasting.
Yet ANOTHER discussion re "losing John McCain"? Haven’t we covered this topic ad nauseam?
Guess this answers this question. https://t.co/V4RUtjnicq

The answer…never, especially with the way you carry on about him
If not for your father you would have no media career…
The fact that you still do is not a testament to your talent, but to your right wing propagandist of a husband who runs The Federalist
REMEMBER THAT https://t.co/DQbIm6Q2OU

Probably never, bring him, family up in work & remind all from whom you came & opened that door. With that said, your knowledge is yours, but can’t say; ‘my baby hasn’t been on a play date’ (screams spoiled rich) Use JMcs in biz, not respected on own merit https://t.co/rMrx5zFkvO

“My name got me in the door” is kind of a big deal. Many people work as hard or harder than you but never get those kinds of opportunities. That’s called privilege. Nothing to be ashamed of, just remember that next time you talk about why others aren’t as successful as you are. https://t.co/Lbd08zFeCS

Except your work is subpar. You still host the view so you can shield the GOP by always bringing up your dad, because you throw entitled tantrums (great drama!) and because you ignorantly embody strawman conservative arguments. You're not a bad person, just extremely priviledged https://t.co/0vEnhn36nj
