Democrats Unsure Whether Biden Will Run Again In 2024, Despite Him Saying He’ll Seek Re-Election

Publicly, Joe Biden has declared his intention to run again in the next presidential election. Despite this, there have been rumors amidst the Democratic political sphere that when the time comes, he will step aside and let another candidate run instead. Reasons for this rumor include his advanced age, his lukewarm ratings so far as president, and the possibility of losing the house majority during next year’s midterm elections.

Even among these whispers, an anonymous Biden campaign staffer insists that, “He has told people privately that he plans to run. We’ll be ready for that.” Many other commentators agree that Biden’s 2024 bid is no fluke, and that he will be the definite candidate for the next election. For this reason, no other democrats have even implied that they may want to enter the race, instead waiting to see what Biden decides to do in the coming years when the election draws closer.

The discussion has become more heated in light of Biden’s decreasing poll numbers. While some argue that he would be the best candidate to defeat Trump if the former president does run again, others believe that Biden’s ratings show that he may not be able to win against Trump a second time around.

In a recent Hill-HarrisX survey, sixty-one percent of respondents said that they would prefer if Biden stepped aside to let another candidate run in 2024, while only twenty-four percent said that he should definitely run again. However, despite what any survey says or what rumors are heard, the only one who can ultimately make the decision will be Biden himself.
