Capitol Rioter Cries and Begs for Mercy as He’s Sentenced to 41 Months in Prison — The Most of Any Rioter So Far

One Capitol rioter who’s an ex-MMA f1ghter broke down in tears and begged for mercy before being sentenced to 41 months in prison — the stiffest sentence yet received by anyone involved in the siege on Jan. 6.

New Jersey resident Scott Fairlamb, 44, was also the first to be sentenced for a$$aulting a law enforcement officer during the failed takeover of the Capitol, The Daily Mail reports.

“Judge Royce Lamberth’s decision was considered a ‘canary in the coal mine’ by prosecutors who said that Wednesday foreshadowed what more than 120 other defendants face for harming police that day,” the Mail reported.

Announcing the sentence, Lamberth told Fairlamb that if the case had gone to trial, “I don’t think there’s any jury that could have acquitted you.”

NBC Washington reports Fairlamb wept during the 11 a.m. hearing and apologized for disgracing his family’s name, especially his father’s who is a U.S. military veteran.

Pleading for mercy prior to sentencing, Fairlamb said “I truly regret my actions that day. I have nothing but remorse.”

In a video from Jan. 6 that was viewed in court, Fairlamb, wearing a camouflage jacket and black beanie and navy blue scarf, can be seen yelling at an officer. In an apparent attempt to calm Fairlamb down, another officer approached from behind, but the former Mixed Martial Arts f1ghter shoved him.

Fairlamb pointed a finger in the officer’s face and that’s when things got dicey. The officer swatted his finger away and Fairlamb struck back, hitting him harder.

During the hearing, Fairlamb called his actions “irresponsible” and “reckless,” adding that he takes full responsibility for his actions,” citing health problems related to cancer and cardiac issues.

While one can certainly empathize with his health problems, it doesn’t excuse the crimes he committed. And nowhere did he apologize for the harm he caused police officers.

And despite his health problems, one can assume Fairlamb is quite strong. He also owned the gym Fairlamb Fit just a few miles from his East Coast home. But now the gym is listed as closed and has taken down all its social media pages. It’s pretty safe to assume this dude can bench press a pound or two.

This and the fact that Fairlamb has had a few run-ins with law enforcement previously was not lost on Leslie Goemaat, an attorney for the Justice Department.

“He was trained to throw a punch and was well aware of the injury he could cause,” Goemaat said.

In the days after the riot, Fairlamb had sought donations that eventually totaled $30,000 and that didn’t sit right with prosecutors, who argued it’s “not right” for him to profit from the siege.

Fairlamb’s attorney turned to hand-wringing, arguing that the “time served” sentence was long enough, adding it was “rare” to see such a “commendable” person “take such a wrong step,” NBC reported.

Welp, maybe that’s because he isn’t really a “commendable” person. To me, knowing that he was an MMA f1ghter, he pretty much seems like a tough guy taking advantage of people.

At any rate, he pleaded guilty to two counts — one for obstruction of an official proceeding and one a$$aulting the police officer.

The counts carry a maximum of more than 20 years in prison, but the court’s probation department, after considering sentencing guidelines, recommended a term ranging from 41 to 51 months, NBC reported.

Judge Lamberth was not bound by any of the recommendations. Prosecutors, however, called for the 44-month prison sentence.

This seems fitting. Fairlamb supports QAnon conspiracy theories on his social media accounts.

“What patriots do? We f*cking disarm them and then we storm the f*cking Capitol!,” he was heard yelling in the videos

Fairlamb was captured after several people alerted the FBI to several videos and he was seen hitting an officer’s helmet and wielding a baton as he climbed scaffolding, The New Jersey Herald reports.

The four witnesses identified Fairlamb from a tattoo on the back of his hand and he was arrested at his New Jersey home on January 22.

Fairlamb has had other bad news as well. Lamberth has also ordered him to pay $2,000. The judge also mandated that Fairlamb be under supervised release for an additional three years after he’s served his time.
