MAGA Fanatic Who Threatened to Kill Nancy Pelosi Sentenced to More Than 2 Years in Prison

The sentencing for the man who threatened Nancy Pelosi’s life on January 7th, the day after the Capitol Riots, finally came down on Tuesday, and ultimately resulted in over a two year sentence. The man in question is a 53-year old male named Cleveland Grover Meredith Jr., and his sentence was determined after he plead guilty to interstate communication of threats back in September.

The threat was sent in the form of a text to a family member of Meredith’s, in which he said, “Thinking about heading over to Pelosi … speech and putting a bullet in her noggin on Live TV”, which he followed up with the purple devil emoji. In court, Meredith’s argument to defend this text was that his statement was simply “political hyperbole”.

Meredith ended up pleading guilty as a deal with the prosecutors in which they dropped the other charges they had against him, which included possession of an unregistered firearm. Now he joins the list of over 700 people that have been arrested for crimes that pertain to the January 6 Capitol insurrection in some way.

Meredith himself did not actually participate in those riots, but his case was included in the federal investigation pertaining to that day. He had originally been planning on participating, which is why he had driven up to D.C. from his home state of Colorado in the first place, but he did not reach his destination in time due to car troubles.

What led to Meredith’s initial arrest was the family member who received the text sending it first to his mother, and later to the FBI. He was arrested that same day, on January 7, in a hotel that was not far from the Capitol building. He has been continuously detained since that day.
