Lindsey Graham Says You Can Thank Him for Trump Cancelling His January 6th Presser

Lindsey Graham has let it be known that he was the reason that Donald Trump decided to cancel his Thursday press conference, which was originally announced for Trump to discuss the “real insurrection” that he claims took place on November 3, 2020. Lindsey Graham said that he advised the former president to cancel the event, along with several others, such as Fox News host Laura Ingraham.

It is true that Graham is close to Donald Trump and currently serves as his advisor, although anyone who has worked with the president in the past has reported that he tends to do whatever he feels like no matter what he is advised to do. In Graham’s account, however, when he told Trump that “there could be peril in doing a news conference” on the anniversary of the attack, the the former president actually agreed.

Trump cancelled the event on Tuesday, two days before it was supposed to take place at his Florida Mar-A-Lago residence. No matter what persuaded him to do so, it was a wise choice to cancel the event, which many would have found extremely disrespectful to the few people who died during the insurrection, as well as the over 100 police offers who were injured.

Maybe another factor to Trump’s decision was the negative reaction he initially got back in December when he announced the press conference, especially the amount of feedback he got about his comment about the “real” insurrection taking place on November 3.

Trump would never admit this in his own statement, however, and instead blames the event cancellation on “the total bias and dishonesty of the January 6th Unselect Committee of Democrats, two failed Republicans, and the Fake News Media.”
