Jan 6th Insurrectionist Says Rioters are Treated Worse Than Black Americans Under Jim Crow

One defendant who allegedly stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6th has filed a new motion arguing that he and his fellow co-defendants are in a much “worse” situation than that of Black Americans in the South in the 1950s, Raw Story reports.

And Brandon Fellows, who filed the motion, and his fellow co-defendants have the White privilege to do so. Which Fellows did by invoking Black History Month.

“I’d like to make this portion of my motion festive in light of Black History Month to show you how correlated our treatment really is, and of course concede on some clear differences. After all, not only does history tend to repeat itself, but few ever truely (sic) learn from it,” Fellows argued in his 32-page motion. “It’s Black History Month, and there’s a lot to learn from it. I find these deprivations, discriminations, and unequal treatments to have strong correlations to what my Black brothers suffered under the racist Democrats after the abolition of slavery, thanks to Republican Abraham Lincoln up until the Brown V. Board of Education decision, which the Democrats also hated.”

Call me crazy, but I was unaware that Fellows has been chased by cops with German shepherds and his children drenched with fire hoses. I was unaware that his church had been bombed and crosses burned on his lawn. Because these are all things Black Americans were faced with during the 1950s and are still faced with even today.

Here’s a fun snippet from The Smithsonian National Museum of History & Culture.

“On May 2, 1963, more than 1000 students skipped classes and gathered at Sixth Street Baptist Church to march down Birmingham, Alabama. As they approached police lines, hundreds were arrested and carried off to jail in paddy wagons and school buses. When hundreds more young people gathered the following day for another march, White commissioner Bull Connor directed the police and fire department to use force to halt the demonstration. Images of children being blasted by high-pressure fire hoses, being clubbed by police officers, and being attacked by police dogs appeared on television and in newspapers, and triggered outrage throughout the world.”

Funny how that makes Fellows’ “discrimination” pale by comparison.

Oh, and in an earlier report, Raw Story notes this fool also compared himself to Jesus.

Persecution complex much dude?

But in the motion he filed Thursday he soldiered right on, suggesting in some ways that the situation faced by him and his fellow defendants was somehow worse than that faced by Black people in Montgomery, Alabama during the 1950s.

“I’m not MLK (no, really?) but I too, speak out about these abuses from a Democratic, city-run jail in Washington, D.C., just as MLK did from the Democratic, city-run jail in Birmingham, Alabama. Even my Black brothers in Montgomery were able to attend church, have clergy, attend school, go to a barber and see their families, even if they were segregated,” Fellows argued. “Therefore, I argued to you that, at least in these areas, we have it worse than the Black population did in 1950s Montgomery.”

Fellows could have knocked off the absurdity right here but he didn’t.

“I know some laugh at this, perhaps like some of them, you find this to be ridiculous or offensive,” he wrote. “This is typically the point where either most concede I have some good points, or where the attacks come flying in. Some make arguments outside ad hominem attacks, but very few go on to successfully attempt to refute the central point. Regardless of where you stand I will concede to you the obvious, us White people, Trump supporters and even January 6th defendants AS A WHOLE do not have it as bad as our Black brothers did under the Democrats of Montgomery in the 1950s. However, things are getting worse for us, especially in the past year with the selective hateful Democrats in charge, particularly in this city, and even more in this cities’ jail.”

Damn this is ridiculous. I hope he lets us know the next time someone burns down his church.
