Newly Discovered Proud Boys Memo Reveals the Seven Other Buildings They Planned to Seize on Jan 6th

A memo that was found in the possession of former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio details a particularly disturbing plot to seize several government buildings in Washington, D.C. on January 6th, 2021, according to a report by The New York Times.

While we can all breathe a sigh of relief that this didn’t happen, the memo titled 1776 Returns purportedly outlined plans to take control of the Supreme Court and six House and Senate office buildings but not the Capitol Complex itself, Insider reports.

The memo allegedly details plans to assign 50 members of the extremist right-wing group to occupy each of the buildings on Capitol Hill and called for some members to create a distraction outside as others infiltrated and seized buildings in order to stage sit-in protests.

Sources told The Times it wasn’t clear who authored the memo but it may have been given to Tarrio by a former girlfriend.

The report notes that the memo contains a detailed timeline, and does, in fact, follow some actual events that transpired on January 6 last year when a mob of Trump supporters attacked the Capitol in a failed attempt to prevent Joe Biden’s certification as president.

Tarrio and a string of other Proud Boys members were arrested last week and charged with conspiracy in connection with the failed siege. Indictment documents referred to the memo, but the Times report adds additional details about what the memo contains.

According to that report, Tarrio is not accused of attempting to act on the plans outlined in the memo. He wasn’t present in Washington, D.C. on January 6th because he had been arrested on an unrelated case two days earlier. However, several Proud Boys members were involved in the Capitol riot.

So who knows what would have happened if Tarrio were there on that tragic day? It’s bad enough that this unruly mob caused the death and destruction that it did. The idea of anyone commandeering the Supreme Court and the Senate and House office buildings is even scarier. We can be glad that didn’t happen.

Here is Tarrio’s detention memo which is just chockfull of information.
