Conservatives Seem to Think Elon Musk is Going to Save Twitter for Them…We’ve Got Some Bad News

Anyone who has read this column regularly knows that I have serious concerns about the aggregation of power that goes along with the monopolies that now dominate not just social media but just about every other large American business.

For over five years, I have argued that Twitter, Facebook, Google, and throw in YouTube, and Instagram (as part of those companies) should be busted up into twenty little pieces each. So long as the software allows for cross-posting from one company to another, there would finally be competition again.

Elon Musk offers to buy Twitter for $41bn as he says takeover needed to uphold free speech.

When Adam Smith envisioned capitalism, he said it would require strong regulations to prevent monopolies – here we are. Smith also envisioned an environment where the best company would out-compete other companies. Smith did not envision companies that become successful monopolies not because they are clearly the best product but because the product’s value is only the fact that everyone else uses the same product. A “monopoly.”

Is Twitter valuable if there are five companies, each with the same number of users, that cannot communicate with each other? Absolutely not. Musk himself said it best, “it is like the town square.” The town square is a monopoly you stupid ffff, it’s just owned by the town, and people congregate there because everyone else congregates there. It is the same with Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Google – you want to be on the one “everyone else is on.”

The only way to have competition is to have many different companies but compatible software to keep it the town square Musk envisions.

Meanwhile, the conservatives are going absolutely nuts because Musk is going to save them! I would be willing to bet that the moment Musk actually educates himself about the company, he will actually understand that the rules are not “anti-conservative” unless conservatives are admitting they’re racist liars that endanger others and threaten violence.

The irony and hilariousness is that the conservatives are celebrating their freedom… on fcking TWITTER!!! (Sorry about the anger). Clearly, given the number of conservatives celebrating, Twitter doesn’t censor “conservatives”!

Says a guy on Twitter, saying that we censor them for revealing agendas.

Says a guy on TWITTER, crying there is no “free speech” – which is not a corporate thing.

Says the guy ON TWITTER, who posted the tweet 3 DAYS AGO. I guess he’s not in Twitter jail?

If it was a government entity wouldn’t Donald Trump have discovered so? And why not ask the shareholders?

This happens to liberals all the time.

Below, now why would this guy think that he should be allowed to say anything on someone else’s private platform?

Keyword if you are a “conservative” is “twatter” – a term that I haven’t heard, but I guess I don’t hang out with the right people.
